The Dread Companion is litterally, the dark part of a non evil adventurer which posseses his companion; What if Evil Adventurers had Good companions? As the Dread Companions, Morality Pets are absolutly loyal to theyr masters, but they express the better part of theyr masters souls. Good familiar of a n evil spellcaster might hide innocent victims from his master, as would do the Good companion of an Anti-paladin.

That sounds like an interesting one-off character gimmick (the 3e team used it for Azalin and Irik sort of), but I don't think gifting wicked summoners secret shoulder angels should be a general rule. For NPCs, sometimes you just need a loyal minion who isn't too complicated. Otherwise, I see Ravenloft familiars as an opportunity to explore gothic themes, present an alternate reflection of the summoner, or create a source of character conflict. Of all the mechanics that 5e chose to keep, messing around with the summoned familiars/steeds was one of them, albeit not their alignment if I am remembering correctly.

I understand your point, but I see the Gothic as a more balanced universe. And so I created the Morality Pet as a balancing element.

GIFTING them? of course not, but CURSING them with them, that's something else.

It is a decent idea for those who use dread companions or familiars in their games, which I don't. I don't like punishing players for picking certain classes.
