Stu's Campaign

Post by Ail »

Hi all,

long time no see, they say ;-)

I'm back with enthusiasm for Ravenloft again. Right now, I'm sending my players to Barovia and I'm looking for ideas. I've been reading the netbooks and some books that I have, but actually waht I'm missing (for continuity and such) is Stu's Campaign. Does any one know if it still exists somewhere? Can anyone send me "lost" parts? I have all 'issues' up to "Castles Forlorn 1".

Also, another hint. I wish to make a reading of E.A. Poe's The Raven in-character. I'm thinking that a man at an inn where they are now could kill himself out of love and when the PCs find him, he has the poem written in front of him, as if he had written it himself. With them would be a close friend of the deceased who'd read the poem aloud, but I think the situation would not be the most suitable for him to read the poem as I think it should be read: ominously and scaringly. He'd probably be sobbing and I think the effect of the poem would be lost. What would be a good way of reading this to the PCs? Is the writer an itinerant poet who reads it in public? But if he's expecting clapping hands and/or money as prize, reading it scaringly seems to be wrong again. I thought he could do this as the folks at the inn, at night, recounted ghost tales, but what would be his purpose to read the poem? Just testing an audience, for example?

I'd like to hear your ideas, thanks. By the way, this scene will still not be in Barovia.

Have it read by a bard, troubadour or minstrel of some kind, who's just reciting it to give all the creeps, so that his next song will sound extra jolly... Or put it on the Inn's menu... as a flavor text :)

You have all the issues up to Castles Forlorn 1? I've been looking for Stu's campaign transcripts for a year now. Can you e-mail me them?

I don't have them with me at the moment, but I'll try not to forget tonight.

Thanks. :D

I've been kicking myself ever since SotK closed for not printing them off myself.

Well, this is sort of an announcement then. I have them with me now, and if anyone needs Stu's Campaign (what I have it), I can gladly email it. I have the original html, both the session diary and Stu's comments up to Castles Forlorn 1 (I don't know if Stu ever published Castles Forlorn 2, but from what I have apparently yes, he did) and the first Inheritances that he published in a thread in the Malodorous Goat Messageboard.

Once again, if any one has more scripts of Stu's campaign, I'd be very, very happy to have them. This has been the most profound influence for me ever, in Ravenloft terms, even though I own a number of books from the line.

Well I have all of Stu's Campaign logs and DM notes from the start up till Castles Forlorn - Part Three, but none of the forum posts he made after that.

If anyone has any of the forum posts he made regarding his campaign I'd be quite interested.
