Wasn't there a piece for MotRD dealing with Glamis Castle? I seem to recall seeing one -- possibly in one of the Book of S-?

Glamis Castle? Isn't that Macbeth's old place?

Glamis was the castle where Macbeth (the theater curse on that name doesn't carry over to the Net, does it?) murdered the king (Duncan?) and thus, yeah, is likely where he lived. Of course, also the place of "out out damned spot".

As far as I'm aware, I don't think that there was... You know what that means... [Looks hopeful]

And as an idea, just *hopping* by...

We could use the Three Hags as the Darklord, just as in... was it Lament?
One could even use the Castle there....

:soth:

More ideas anyone?

Tepest - the hags are from Tepest.

Well, Tepest as currently described doesn't really support a Macbeth type setting, but maybe Forlone would be a better setting.
I have heard comparisons between that domain and Macbeth before - and I wouldn't mind seeing Tristen booted out for something more interesting.
Perhaps Macbeth still lives, dreading the arrival of one person who can slay him - a man who was not born.

Correction, a man who was not born of a living mother.

Isn't Tristen supposed to bashed at the end of Castle Forlorn?
- So there would really be room for a new darklord...

So, what about Macbeth's stats? I'd suggest him to be a Fighter 10/ Ranger 2/ Wizard 2...

Would he live in Tristen's old manor or would Glamis Castle simply replace Castle Forlorn?

If you do Macbeth in Forlorn (or Tepest) you've got to work in the "Till Birnham wood come to Dunsinane" aspect. In the play, the prophecy is fulfilled by Macduff's forces holding branches from the wood as camoflage. In Tepest or Forlorn, the woods could actually move in the form of Treants. (Undead, Dread, or otherwise...)

(I think I read or heard somewhere that this was Tolkein's inspiration for the Ents attacking Isengard. It might have been in the DVD commentary.)

I personally wouldn't like simply to replace the play by a campaign... Maybe, an *aftermath* speculation...

As my view from the mst s is that people who are actually *being lead away by the mists* die in their homeplane, Macduff could as well have killed Macbeth and only his cursed spirit survives, maybe bound to serve the hags...

Oooo that fits perfectly, as Forlon is being deforrested. All the goblyns and such. The lord knows that when the woods engulf the castle he dies. So he spends his time having the entire area cut down and fighting with those druids trying to stop him.
Works nicely as a revamp of Tristen or a new darklord for the land.

What about on the Gothic Earth (what this board is supposed to focus on), how would the Castle and MacBeth work there?
Firstly, some actual historic knowledge of MacBeth might be nice. Shakespeare shook things up quite a bit.
His ghost might be still around, tormented and stalked by the ghosts he created.
