Greetings and salutations,
I have just started playing again after a long absence and am agahst to find that the Kargatane are gone and the lands I once played on are somewhat less horrific. I have never converted anything before from one system to another and need some help. I am currently hunting down the old material, all of it, in an attempt to convert it to 3.5. Anyone who can help me with advice or materials they wish to donate or sell please contact me. As a note to this. I have been playning RPG's since 1978 and am currently digesting the new 3.5 system. I have alot of spare time and the support of my loving wife. Please pm me if you can help.

Do you mean you want rules for conversions from AD&D to 3.5, or that you actually want some of the old materials?

If it's the former, then wotc put out a conversion booklet when 3.0 came about, which is available as a pdf from www.wizards.com/dnd - do a search on it and it'll turn up. I think there's something similar for 3.0 to 3.5, but I couldn't swear by it. It'd be a lot of work, but if you've got the time.

Also, just watch the threads on this forum and on the wotc site. There's a few people out there statting up Darklords and NPCs from old supplements for 3.5. Check the following thread for examples.

If it's the latter... then check ebay, or again www.wizards.com/dnd. The free old books section has a few of the old Ravenloft scenarios, which are predictably free.

Sorry for not replying earlier - I managed to miss this topic until I was searching through them just now.

There's not really a conversion book from AD&D to 3.5. Not that I've seen. You kinda have to convert from 2E to 3E to 3.5. But if you have both conversion books at the same time it's not that hard.

As for old materials eBay is the way to go. I've picked up alot of the old stuff for a song and am scarily close to a complete colletion of Acessories/Novels.

Ebay dude, Ebay I am telling you if you are patient enough and hungry enough you can find about anything.

Just don't be insane like me and bid 1000 bucks on an ancient module just so you know you will win.

Because he wants the old material as well methinks.

www.rpgnow.com sells the entire ravenloft line in pdf format. Each book is fixed at a price of 4.95 I do believe.

Their system is secure, fast and you get immediate satisfaction. Not to mention, if you're converting creatures and stats, the text is copyable from Acrobat into your favourite word processor ;)

As for conversons, as noted, everything you need can be found on the wizards website. The differences between 3.0 and 3.5 are pretty subtle, and it mostly comes to minor alterations in feats and spells, etc, and a lowering of damage reduction.

If you need any further help, feel free to send me a private message.

Wow. I'd not seen all that before - I was aware of rpgnow but I'd never browsed much... what are the quality of the scans like? If it's decent then I am now a very happy Morgan. Or at least I will be soon.

Aside from ebay ENWorld's Trading boards is a great place to pick things up esp. when you're located in the States. I certainly sometimes wish i where, when i see the prices there....

I don't like PDFs, even if you print them out you've still only got one side of a page of text. I like the feel of a book. It's like Giles said in Buffy, he doesn't like computers because of the smell.

True, but given a choice between "you cannot have this book" and "you can have this book in pdf", I know which one I'd go for. And let's be honest, getting hardcopies of some of the old Ravenloft stuff at anything remotely near a reasonable price is pretty much impossible these days. :(
