White Wolf Quarterly Out - No Ravenloft Until 2006

I don't know if you guys have checked out the White Wolf Quarterly for the summer, but it has releases until December and there is nothing listed for Ravenloft whatsoever. Also, the release schedule that was listed on the Ravenloft website including VRG: Mists and Masque of the Jade Horror is gone. What could this mean? Have our fears of Ravenloft's demise come to pass, or is White Wolf merely keeping Ravenloft releases close to the chest?

Who knows, but if the line is cancelled, who's to stop us all from producing our own versions of those books destined to come out?
VRA Vol 2 anyone???? :twsisted:

This has already been discussed with considerable passion on the now-closed thread titled 'Is Ravenloft Dead?'

I probably missed most of that thread during my absense.

Well who care if white wolf sotp the line? I mean we can make our own book and maybe even make it as good as the kargatane books.
We could release adventures, supplements and even move foward the timeline. And dont forget the gazetters...

Or, more likely, since the books would be 90% done by this point and even WW doesn't like to pay people for doing nothing, they simply forgot to include them. Not like they pay much attention to the line at the best of time, we're not that important...
If they cancel the line it would be after they squeek those books out.
But, just in case, in the meantime the Frat will divide up islands for the Nocturnal Sea.

Well, what books do we still expect for Ravenloft?
VRA II
VRG to the mists
Gaz 6
VRA I was quite complete on itself, so I don't think that a VRA II would be necessary anyway. In fact even if this comes out, I may not buy it (unless it gets good reviews from many people here)
VRG to the mists is about . . . something that we don't know. It is not like VRG to the SFey or WDead where we knew exactly what they dealt with, so we can live without it too. A shame really, since VRG were very interesting and the last two opened my eyes to wonders I haven't thought would be so interesting to incorporate.
Gaz 6 on the other hand is like "the next episode" in S's trials. There are many questions still to be answered and I would really hate to not learn them, or at last have a proper ending to this story.
Even then, it is 3 books. Not too much IMO. Ravenloft line is almost "complete" with the books already published.
PS. I believe that a VRG to aberrations would be far more needed to the setting that the VRG to the mists.
PS2. Don't get me wrong. I like the VRGs more than I like the Gazs (while they are cool too). However, the gaz 6 is as I said a missing chapter in a book I have almost finished.

I´m curious about the content of VRG to the Mists, although I think a VRG describing the denizens of Bluetspur would be great.
VRG to the Mists is a book with great possibilities, since it will talk about the greatest mystery of the setting, it can be used to provide some answers, or at least some interesting possibilities involving the greatest secrets of the Land of Mists.

I agree with you!
My "dream" is to see all the 13 Gazetteers being released, but I honestly don´t believe it will happen.
With one, or none Gazetteer being released by year, and what is worst, with the series don´t acchieving good sales, I don´t think WW will want to release more and more Gazetteers.
So I hope to see a Gaz 6 only (as you said) to put an end on "S" saga. One more Gazetteer only to tell us the unnanswered questions behind the series. Something to give a proper end, instead of "Dear patron, I´m going to explore the place X"....and nothing more about "S" and all the questions raised in her "quest".

I doubt that will ever happen. First of all because of the publication of the recent
Lords of Madness by WotC. Second, because the mind-flayer is still one of the few creatures that haven't been authorized for the SRD.

If you think about it for a moment, you'll likely realize that if the Arthaus Ravenloft license had
anything to do with the SRD, the domain of Bluetspur
itself would have long since been forced to go the way of Kalidnay.
Some misconceptions just never go away...

Mourn for a great RPG line...

But then, why is a mindflayer portayed as one of the major NPCs in *City State of the Invincible Overlord*? - Seems, that the mindflayer is included in the SRD or that those got a special agreement, too...

Mourns for the Mists...

Unknown but easy to check for yourself. Go to the SRD homepage and download the Monsters section. You'll see it jumps straight from Mimic to Minotaur. Same thing for the Beholder.
That said, some companies managed in the past to secure a one-time deal with WotC to include such creatures in their products, so I guess it's possible...
