The Main page intros

Who is responsible for these 1 or 2 line quotes in the main page? They're very funny! Thanks!

Most of all, I liked the one with the old woman in her hut, but I also like the one with the tree's ghost.

PS. Shouldn't there be a "Ask the Fraternity" board like the old "Ask the Kargatane" board in SotK site?

You have to credit our webmaster, ScS for these funny lines.

Interesting idea. However, those are high shoes to wear ...

And Dru's the only one that looks good in heels.

I think we'd be in trouble if we gave her a forum of her very own....

The stars are singing down, saying that I should get my own forum so I can show everyone my dolly collection. So many dollies of countless ahpes and sizes. Miss Edith was naughty again yesterday so I cut off her hands, but now she has nothing to use her knife and fork with at tea time. Silly Miss Edith, no hands but tries to eat with her feet. The dogs were not happy, not at all.

Thank you ScS! Keep up the good work! It is being appreciated!

On another topic how much of your personal time does running this site takes?

For Wiccy I can tell about 50% of his waking time! He is getting in and out all day long IMO!

Your quite welcome.

As for time, it varries greatly. Some weeks I'm busy and I don't spend any time on it, while other times it feels like I'm working on it every day. Call it something like 6-12 hours a month.

Of course, that's really just arranging stuff that other people have written. Joel is responsible for a huge ammount of the actual information displayed - reviews, pictures, files, ect...
And then there's the whole community of artists, reviewers and everyone else who submits things to go up on the site.
I guess you could say, the real secret to success is tricking other people into doing most of the work for you.

As for the Ask Azalin board, we made a decision at the begining not to create one. The sad fact is that the Ask Azalin board seemed to be a blight upon the old Kargatane board. While it did provide extremly helpful information, it was also a sinkhole of personal insults and general bad feelings. The most common answer from Azalin was "Dungeon Master's perogative" - which has always been the golden rule of D&D.

Finally, and most importantly, what is the purpose of a Ravenloft community if not to answer these questions?
Its much more efficient to let the community work for us by tapping into my secret of success.

No, no! I mean an "Ask the Fraternity" like it was "Ask the Kargatane" not "ask Azalin".

"Ask Azalin" was asking for official answers about rules only. The "Ask the Kargatane" was asking the Kargatane (surprise!) as I'm sure you remember. While we used that board before for clarifications, after "ask Azalin" came up, we used it to ask question like those I asked you here. :)

Also by "working on the site" I actually meant "How much time you spend on the site" not "moderating the site". My bad. Participating in discussions (like this) seems as important to me as reviewing submissions.

I do not recall such a board. Just the one where we asked the dead Kargatane ;)

That's indeed a big distinction ;) I check the site to read / mod it about 5-10 times a day (I work at home), and I may "work" to write / review / plan / etc for the site about 3-5 hours a week, sometimes more, depending on familial activities.

I write a lot for the site, and coordinate other people's work (other then the FoS). But I do not really touch the netbook production anymore. This is ScS, Jason and David's main work (among other things I'm sure).

Despite I like this thought , I think the real secret is having fun with your work and really love doing it! I believe it's the only way to think intelligent and funny quotes and of course do the rest of your work in the Fraternity despite your real life's problems. :)

Thanks for your time Frat guys! :D

Do you really don't remember the "Ask the Kargatane" Board in SotK site? :? I agree it has seen little use after the Ask Azalin board but we used it to contact the Karg directly, as Joel said.

Actually after the "Ask Azalin" board came up, it was mostly used for questions like "What will happen with Death Undaunted?"

Personally, I typically spend about 15-20 minutes a day during the week visiting the website. If my weekends are spent traveling, then I might spend a few hours over the weekend. Unfortunately, between family and working two jobs (have been recently approached to be a professional medical writer), I just don't have the freetime to read and post on these forums like I used to.

However, as Joel stated, I do tend to spend a large amount of time helping ScS with reading and editing submissions for the various netbooks. Admittedly, I haven't been very active with this for the previous two netzines, but a lot of that ended up being due to a lack of submissions... :(

I vaguely remember the Kargatane having such a board on their site. I don't recall it being entitled Ask the Kargatane, but it has almost been two years since we've been able to visit those message boards. I would say that our Message Board Trouble-Shooting section would actually covered the fair majority of the "Ask the Fraternity" questions. The few things that don't fit there would probably belong better in areas such as Fraternity Netbooks.

On the topic of the main page intros, how would everyone feel about an archive of formerly used quotes?
