Looking for a picture

Hi all,

this is difficult to explain, but I'm looking for a picture that I remember vaguely in my mind, yet I can not locate where I saw it. I think it was in some fantasy book, possibly Ravenloft, so I'm asking if anyone here knows which picture this is:

it's of a girl fighter, completely dressed (eg, not a chainmail bikini). She wears trousers. She's almost in a profile, on the left side of the image and she may have a sword. Her hairs goes to the shoulders. I think the picture is black and white and I don't remember what else is in the scene.

The portrait looks very realistic (I mean, more like Larry Elmore than 3E art) but not as photographic looking.

I know I may be mixing a lot of images in my head, but if anyone by luck can "see" what I'm talking about, I'd be very grateful.

Thanks.

Ail

It sounds familiar to me, too. Are you thinking of the female fighter seen side-on, next to a painting which shows an identical woman dressed up in a fancy gown and jewelry...? I seem to recall that image appearing in the original I6 module's artwork; IIRC, it was supposed to be Tatyana's latest duplicate standing beside Strahd's portrait of the original (though that was before Christie Golden's novel revealed Tatyana was a redhead; both the fighter and the woman in the portrait are brunette).

It's been a while... but isn't he describing the portrait of Isolde in "Carnival"? (I don't think you can see if the woman is wearing trousers in the Caldwell I6 illo, although it's been even longer since I've looked at that.)

It isn't Isolde, that was a face on illustration of the Mistress of the Carnival, not profile.

Thanks for the answers, I really didn't expect any. It may have something to do with Tatyana, yes. As for the Carnival, I'd have to check it again. I know I saw it somewhere, and it may have been inside a module, but I can't yet be sure where. Thanks again.
