Carnival sometimes comes up on Ebay. There's some information in Champions of Dorkness but I strongly recommend you spend your money on something more worthwhile and avoid that book.

In one of the BoS___, I can't remember which, there's an article with some troupers in. It's in 2nd ed rules, but that's easily converted.

Other than that, I'm stuck sorry.

The Mordent Cartographic Society had some Carnival characters their website: http://www.gryphonhill.com/carnival/index.htm.

It was the Book of Secrets, I checked.

Was there also a QtR with a Carnival theme? I lose track of these things, and netbooks sometimes have a nasty tendency to start to blur together if I haven't specifically used them in a while.

What sources do you already have for Carnival? We could definately fill in some blanks for you in general terms without breaching copyright. The Carnival supplement is THE source, however. If you can get your hands on that, it should give you all you need.

(There's also the novel Carnival of Fear, btw. And Domains of Dread has like a paragraph or two summary.)

In brief, it's not a domain so much as a reality wrinkle caused by Isolde, mistress of the carnival, who is also a Ghaele Eladrin (an Angel, essentially). Her wrinkle causes the Twisting, an effect that causes people's outsides to match their insides if they stay long enough. Then there are assorted "Troupers" who are the acts at the carnival, all "Twisted" in some way. The are also accompanied by the "skurra" strange vistani outcasts with clown-like facepaint who never talk and are unaffected by the twisting.

Is that the sort of stuff you're looking for?

I believe I've got a spare Carnival book around my apartment I could let go for a couple bucks. I know its missing some pages which is why I bought a new one. PM me if you're interested.

A copy of Carnival sold for about $3 on Amazon the other day, so keep looking, you should get lucky, otherwise there is a ESD version of it available fof about $5 on some site (I just forget what it is called).

Wow. ^_^ Thanks you guys! I have been looking on random sites that I have been finding for Carnival information. Wikipedia had a LOT on that realm and some of the Carnival entertainers, so I am improvising on them. I am trying to find a copy of the Carnival accessory book so that I have all the info. I also pulled up a site that had like 14 characters from some contest. Other then that, I haven't really had much else for useful information. I already have a Tarokka deck for my vistani (avid half-vistani player), so the Skurra and Madame Fortuna are more then covered. Also found some ways to tell fortunes with dice. Got a lot of useful information off the netbooks (thank you to those that made them).

My campaign is a little different then most, I am focusing more on skill based and fear checks for it (not to mention keeping them at the Carnival as long as possible). Tons of puzzles, plot twist, and personal plot attention, not so much in the way of combat. Also looking for info on Mardi Gras and Cinco De Mayo to throw in there. =) But I have those pretty fairly covered.

I can improvise on a lot of it, I was just curious if anyone had anything else that I could throw in. It's going to be a low level campaign with XP from RP mostly... so I really need some colorful characters to throw at my party. My big bad guy is a Wereclown. =) Does anyone have ideas on some random NPCs? The stranger the better. ^_^

"Carnival" is also available in .pdf format via RPGNow.com. (And while there, do a search for "IDA" and pick up a copy of the brilliant d20 System supplement "Modern Advances: Spookmaster"! :)

Any excuse for a plug....

Seconded :)

Also a question: I've been to wikipedia and I'm amazed that someone wrote all that info on Ravenloft ... From what I read, that person is well informed (see Azalin entry) and knows well the content of the FoS site ;)

I think you'll find this approach is quite common in ravenloft campaigns. The gms here rely upon story and characterization much more than combat to fill their adventures ... such is the nature of the setting.

Oh. o.o;;

I have only been in a few campaigns and they have all been mostly combat orientated... maybe it's just the way that my friends DM things. ^_^;;
