I`m finishing to prepare and adventure were the players are going for a "find and rescue" mission in the barovian low mountains. They`re looking for missing childrens and one among them is a young vistana, all these childs are spiritted away by a creature called "le croque-mitaine" wich in fact is an ogre and his female that live in the barovian mountains!

For years they`re scaring, traumatising, abusing and eating alive these poor childs... SO what level of sinkhole of evil do you think that the ogre`s cave should be?
I`m thinking about level 3 but level 4 seems tempting too!

Why i want to determine the level of this sinkhole of evil? Because i intend to make the party go back later to this place and try to put to rest the spirits of the childs that dyed there.... especially the vistana one!

No, definitly sounds like a sinkhole level 3. However, you should base the level on how potent you want the site. If level 4 ives you the effects you want, go with it. If you need to go all the way to 5 to justify the environmental hazards, then do it.

I would probably steer away from a level 5 sinkhole, just because once you've used that you don't have anywhere to go (unless your sinkholes go to 6, a la Spinal Tap ). So I'd save the level 5 action for a story-arc concluding or even a campaign-concluding adventure. Your description of the place is definitely consistent with a level 3 or 4 sinkhole of evil.

I don't think it should be level 4. I'd make it a level 3.
