Halfing Minaiture for a Ravenloft game wanted

Post by Blake_Alexander »

I've recently been running a Ravenloft game in which all the players provide reasonably painted miniature likenesses of their characters...during the last game a new player joined up. She is playing halfling bard originally from Faerun. I've been seaching for an appropriate minaiture for her and I was wondering if any of you from the FoS have noticed any miniatures that might fit this character.

Is she looking for a male or female halfling? Do you want a pre-painted mini, or one that she would paint herself?
I only wish I had retired sooner!

She's playing a female halfling bard...our group would be happy to paint the figure for her if she was unable...so unpainted would be fine.

It's actually the first character she's ever played, so we are trying to make this character (and the figure representing her) to be as special as we can. It's sort of a tradition with our gaming group when it comes to new players.

www.reapermini.com has a handy "fantasy figure finder" that lets you search their catalog by race, gender, class, weapon etc.

They seem to have 5 female halflings (3 of which are discontinued). None are specifically bards, but most are at least rogues. "Elia Shadowfeet" has a kind of bardish quality about her.

That one is awesome!

Ral Partha has the following halflings and gnomes in it's 11-xxx line:

11-008 Gnome Thieves with Dagger
11-012 Halfling Fighter Thieves
11-014 Kender Rogues
11-032 Halfling Clerics
11-033 Halfling Rogues

11-076 High Bulp and Bupu (2) (Gully Dwarves)
11-080 Tasselhoff Burrfoot (a Kender)

The Boxed Set 10-510 Basic Heroes has an awesome halfling rogue with a sling and wearing an eye patch.

No small bards though.

Mind you, with Ral Partha having gone under years ago those will be harder to find (though IronWind Metals might be a place to start looking as they do do reprints of RP minis that are not from licensed lines).

Right. The 11-series is the licensed AD&D range. you can get some of those mini on ebay still.

As for the other lines I'm not that knowedgeable about them.

The reaper gnome looks best anyway...

FWIW, at least one regular Ral Partha sculptor (Dennis Mize, who did almost all the original Ravenloft line) works at Reaper now. I've been partial to Sandra Garrity's work myself.
