hello dark powers, you have captured another soul

Hello I am a long time ravenloft fan and was pleased to find this site.

If a few of the more powerful darklords could help me navigate here I won't count them as expendable when I overtake them in power.....Is there no 'welcome to the boards' (mists) permanent thread to welcome newcomers?

I have been playing D&D since I was a wee tot and have both original Ravenloft adventures. I collected much of the 2nd edit. Ravenloft stuff when I ran/played a shared campain in highschool with my best friend (we switched off DM everyother adventure) and conseqently he still has a few of the missing products from the Ravenloft line to make my collection complete. Blast his rotting carcass, may his wounds fester.
I had stopped playing D&D when life (un-life) got in the way and I was forced to be a productive part of society to exist. (the bloodthirst is great.) However over the years I have gained the means to obtain the elusive titles needed to round out my collection, even several that my friend kept from me for years (to hide the DM only info so we could play them in our now defunct campain.)
and now my collection is nearly complete of the 69 original AD&D and AD&D 2nd edition Ravenloft products, I have in my possesion 50 and my fiendish nemesis retains another 12 titles I need that as of yet his withered corpse has yet to part from his bony clutches. The remaining few products seem to have vanished into the mists as I have been unable to track them down for my personal dark library.

I reluctantly began collecting 3rd and later editions of ravenloft products just to read what had been done with my beloved realm of darkness and now have most of them as well 17 of 20. and I will not rest until I have captured the rest or slain those who would dare defy me (and their remaining kin of course.)
I have 16 of the 20 ravenloft novels.
Also I still need two of the three endless quest ravenloft books to complete my pact with the dark powers: to have a complete library of all that was/is Ravenloft. even Drigor the scholarly fiend is jealous, judging by the assassins he sent last week. Who outside the dark powers themselves can boast of such a thing?
apparently I now will have to start collecting netbooks and other items of interest. I was displeased to see that the Kartagane had been destroyed and their lovely little website would no longer be available.
I am pleased to meet those of you here. As far as I know this is the only collection of beings still discussing the Dread realms in the present. I am sure that I can find uses for you in my dark plots.

We do not have an official welcome thread. We first thought this absence alone would say enough, and scare people, but it seems people are still registering here (about a dozen each month in fact).

What are they thinking? They haven't seen the "backup while you still can" signs?

*puzzled*

Oh,those silly things...I took them down quite awhile ago, they were keeping vict-er,newcomers away.
I replaced them with ads I cribbed from the Godiva chocolates website.Personally,I expected a much bigger response than this-it's a trick that's kept my pet alligators fed for MONTHS...
Oh,and welcome to the Cafe.Nice theatrical entrance,BTW-the countless voices in my head got a few really good laughs from that, and believe me,I neede the respite.Gain all the power you like,my domain is protected by the insane yammerings of Yahoo Serious and Carrot Top,and I doubt that anyone is desperate enough to withstand THAT.

STARING CONTEST!!!

It does sound like you're in a similar boat to me concerning the size of the collection. Mine is rather large with a few odds and ends slipping through my fingers. Always teasing me, always out of my grasp.

White Wolf is selling the rest of the 3E stuff on their website at a decent discount thought, now would be the chance to snatch that up.

Correction: They're actually not selling it anymore at all. I ran into that problem on Monday when I went back to buy the last few 3.5 books that I still need for my collection. If you go to White Wolf's site now, you'll find each and every single book listed as "Out of Stock." Annoying, really, because the discount was really, really nice...
