Shadow Conjuration & Shadow Evocation confusion

I am trying to understand how Shadow Conjuration & Shadow Evocation are altered within the Demiplane of Dread. And I am getting confused by the reference below to being 'dispelled':
"However, at the end of the spell’s duration, you must attempt a Will save against your own spell. If you fail this saving throw, any shadow creations that have not been dispelled spontaneously transform into true shadows (see the Monster Manual), with total HD equal to the effective spell level. These shadows are free willed."
I think this is trying to say that a monster created by a Shadow Conjuration version of Summon Monsters not killed and hence not 'dispelled' before the spell's duration is over, risks becoming a Shadow.
But what, if anything, is it trying to say about fireballs, flaming spheres, and gusts of wind or wind walls created by Shadow Evocation? A fire ball explodes and is gone. There is no chance to dispel an instantaneous effect and no lingering instantaneous effect to dispel. A flaming sphere at least lingers. So if it is extinguished before the duration is up, am I safe? A gust of wind lingers perhaps long enough for Dispel Magic and a wall of wind certainly lingers long enough for Dispel Magic. But does 'dispelled' mean Dispel Magic? Furthermore, wind strictly speaking has no relation to light, dark, and shadow, being invisible, and hence is not an obvious substrate for a Shadow, despite the reinforcing link to the Shadow Plane.
Clarification seems in order as the application of the rule to Shadow Evocation is very unclear and this vagueness renders its application to Shadow Conjuration uncertain.
Suggestions?
Perhaps this is material for the errata?
