Re: Favorite Werewolf/wolfwere encounters
My favorites are the bar scene in the Old Kartakan Inn from Feast of Goblyns and the dog fights in Karina from The Evil Eye. There was also a long subplot on this in the Galen Saga, but that was a bit convoluted and not very encounter-ish.Dmmaster42 wrote:Hey, does anyone have a favorite encounter with a werewolf or wolfwere they'd like share? One of the few adventures for RL that I actually got to run involved a nobleman from Borca who had been inflicted by lycanthropy while hunting. He approached the heroes with a plea to help him get to a priest known for curing lycanthropy in Invidia. Though the trip was to be a short one, the noble knew that the werewolf that had infected him wanted to keep the nobleman as one of his pack and would stop at nothing to keep the noble infected.
What the PCs didn't know, was that the Noble was in fact a true lycanthrope, a mountain loup-garou. The beast that "infected" him was one of his minions, instructed to attack the heroes at least once per night in the attempt to infect them, thus adding to the ranks. At this point, one of the werewolf minions would be killed, and substituted as the Alpha lycanthrope.
Once the party had travelled to the priest, the Nobleman would voluntarily undergo the purification rite, at the culmination of which, the Nobleman werewolf would attempt to slaughter the Cleric.
The werewolf was basically a bestial serial killer who targeted anyone who had even once been able to cure someone of the dread disease.
When it played, the adventure ran well. The Nobleman Werewolf escaped, wounded, but successful in its mission. A female cleric was infected by the lycanthrope attack, but she was killed by a pack of ghouls before the condition manifested fully.
