I hope it's not a disaster like the Eragon movie.

I've read quite a few Dragonlance books, but, ironically, haven't been able to get my hands on the one the movie is based on.

Really? You might want to try used bookstores, as they normally have several copies for sale. The books are great, especially if you are a Raistlin fan. I am also a huge fan of not only the
Chronicles, but the
Legends series as well. I mostly started reading them because of Mr. Stawicki's art from the cover of
Time of the Twins. Here's the image that I am speaking of, and it's one of my favorite desktop wallpapers...

Apparently Keifer Sutherland is doing Raistlin's voice. The movie will be animated. Hmmmm wouldn't it be grand if they did one on Strahd or any DarkLord for that matter. We can always wish

I think that it is better the movie would be animated. After all, this will let the movie capture the
feeling of the book better.
About Raistlin: Yes, he is a very cool character. Remembering that Tracy Hickman was an author of the Ravenloft adventure, I can tell you that Raistlin is the ultimate example of the power checks.

The man has lost about 3 I guess.

Now that just makes me feel old. I started reading the Dragonlance books when they first came out in 1984, they had Larry Elmore covers, and it only cost $2.95. AND I had already graduated college, married, and we had our second child on the way at that time. I've got to get started on my lichdom soon!

Geez, in 1984 I was 3. I hadn't heard very much about Dragonlance until the late 80's with the old Nintendo game Heroes of the Lance. I played it but really coudn't get anywhere. Ah, the memories...

I'm still pessimistic about it.

Well, Dragonlance is my new love RPG-wise. I'm playing there as a player and not a DM, for a very refreshing and welcome change, and I intend to borrow the novels from my DL D, who's an avid fan of DL.
I was a bit disappointed with it being animated, but I hope it turns out well. I sure am going to see it when it comes out, even if it is as bad as the D&D film.
Hmmm, just noticed a trend here. Jeremy Irons was in D&D and in Eragon. He's one of my favourite actors too, but do you think he's developing at taste for fantasy? I'm I would like him even more if that were the case

To Drinnik, Crow and the pessimists: I respectfully disagree.
IMO it is a good thing that the movie is animated as it captures the spirit of the fantasy novel better and it keeps the movie low-budget without it having laughable effects that would seem foolish.
I'm optimistic about this, since it is heavily based on a very successful book, it will be done comic-like and also the authors were involved in all the stages of the project, from explaining the characters to picking music themes for the movie.

I'm not pessimistic, Al, I think it's gonna rock...
