Didn't want to clutter up the inspirational film thread. My TiVo caught this film on the MonsterHD channel a while back (Due to a Christopher Lee WishList) and I just got around to watching it recently. Not a great movie, but not bad, and some great acting by Boris Karloff as the lead and Lee in a small role. But the darn thing got cut off near the end!

Anyone know what happens after .....

spoilers!

the police raid the tavern? Lee's character gets burned by vitriol, Karloff lays dying, calling for his son, and the tavern owner is up on the roof. There can't be much more, but I need to know how it ends, and none of the synopses online go into that kind of detail. :( Also, is the relevance of the title ever explained?

Well, you've already put MOST of the Spoilers up, so...

(spoiler ahead)

Dissolve from Karloff's last dying words to-the very Surgical Theater where Karloff practiced and lectured, an indeterminite period later...the resident Surgeon has successfully operated on a blissfully unaware patient. Karloff's tragic experiments in Anesthesia have reaped dividends for medical science. The End.

As far as the Title, no one actually explains the "corridors of blood" in the film (not that I recall, it was over 5 years ago I saw it), but Surgery at that point in History was more butchery than medicine. Just as the film hinted at, Surgery consisted mostly of holding patients down and cutting them while they struggled and screamed...if you were lucky, they'd go into shock and you could make some accurate cuts and sutures before they died of bloodloss. Don't forget this was the period before Lister, so chances were high that Surgical incisions became Septic....

Corridors of Blood indeed.

Yay! Thank you. I knew that this was the place to ask. :)

What about the tavern owner on the roof? Does he fall to his death? escape? get shot by the police?

Well, it's been half a decade as I said before...but I think he was manhandled down and arrested, as was nearly everyone else. In fact I don't recall any other deaths besides Karloff's. I presume that Lee lived long enough to hang for murder...

OK, good enough. I have a sort of compulsion to finish things I start, so missing the ending was killing me.. Thanks again!

Apropos of nothing: Rob Zombie's song "The Ballad of Resurrection Joe and Rosa Whore" is about this movie. It specifically mentions the Seven Dials, Resurrection Joe, Rosa, Rachel, Ned the Crow, "don't separate the pain from the knife", etc. Also, while I haven't seen it, I wouldn't be surprised if the tavern in it is the Green Man Inn, as that's also mentioned in the song.
