I've just begun reading the 3rd book in the Eragon series, and so far its pretty good. I'll post a review after I've finished with it. Anyone else reading it?

Sadly, I only watched the movie. LOL! Are the books any better, Lady Soth?

Oh yes! Much better indeed . . .
*goes off to grumble about how bad the movie was*
The 3rd book might just be the best yet . . .

Do read them. The books provide so much more information on who Eragon and Saphira are, where they come from, what their lives are like, and others close to them who have their own stories that intertwine with the dragon rider's. Plus the end of Eldest (the second book) setup for a grand finale in the third.

Hey tarlyn, have you had a chance to start any of the books?
I finished "Brisingr" a few days ago. I don't want to post spoilers, but I'll just give my general impressions of the book.
Overall I loved it! Paolini has outdone himself in character development, and the third book is just as good as the second one, some parts a little better, I thought. You can really see how he has matured as a writer from the first book with the predictable storyline. Some of the predictability is still there, but that's just because of the nature of the genre. Also, this book seemed much darker than either of the two before it, which was an interesting direction, and we really see Eragon coming into his own and having to deal with issues he's never faced before. I liked 90% of the book. The ending gave me mixed feelings, but I'll leave that up for you to decide when you read the book.
Well, OK, maybe one spoiler . . . .

LAST WARNING
OK, there will be a 4th book! I'm extremely excited. The 3rd book isn't the end of the series.

I couldn't think of a better Christmas gift!!! Can't wait to hear what you thought of it.
Now that I've read all three, I want to get ahold of the movie again and see if it was as bad as I remember. Maybe I'll have a different opinion of it now that I've read the latest book.
BTW, there are rumors of them attempting a second film based off the 2nd book next year but given how poorly the first one did, I'd have a hard time imagining a sequel. There was just too much left out of the first movie, the 2nd one would have to be 3 hours long just to catch up. I'd like to see Paolini have more of a say in the 2nd film, if there's going to be one.
