Like [[revenant]]s, [[pillar ghost]]s<ref>[[Terrors from Above]] p.114-115</ref> are [[spirit]]s of [[vengeance]]. However, they are not the [[walking dead]]. Rather, a pillar ghost is a [[ghost]] of an influential leader [[betrayed]] and [[killed]] by a close confidante. A pillar ghost appears as a dead body just at the moment of death, fully [[corporeal]] but carried by several insubstantial and translucent spirits who are nonetheless [[oblivious]] to the world around them. Spectral versions of the weapon used to kill the person in life are the primary means of a pillar ghost's attacks.

Unlike in life, pillar ghosts are motivated solely by the drive to avenge themselves. Only if other things get in the way of the pillar ghost does it take notice of them.
