However, [[Dominic D'Honaire]] has been doing his best to engineer the destruction of everything precious in Tomas' life, and ultimately, Tomas' life itself. [[Sara d'Aloure]] has already been one life claimed by D'Honaire's schemes. D'Honaire began this crusade against Tomas because of a failed attempted to turn Tomas into an [[Obedient]]. Comte was spared because of a [[Comte's Magic Ring\|magical signet ring]] he carries.
