Talaal el-Khatib was the emir of Ibraq. Vahid al-Jabara, the sheikh of the House of Jabara, died by misadventure while meeting with Talaal el-Khatib. Feeling that Talaal had cast dishonor upon the House of Jabara, Vahid's son Ferdous arranged for Talaal to be kidnapped.
