Karlus was an man who lived in Invidia prior to its capture by the Mists. He and Marta were lovers. However, Baron Bakholis also was infatuated with Marta, and he sought to claim her as his own. For their refusal of Bahkolis' wishes, he had Karlus maimed and eaten in front of Marta's eyes as several of his soldiers violated her. Before Bakholis killed Marta, she cursed him. His curse caused him to become a werewolf. The Mists claimed Bahkolis and Invidia along with him.[1]
