Emory

Emory is a minor character from the Ravenloft product line novel Baroness of Blood. He was the first alchemical vampire created by Baroness Ilsabet Obour.

Biography

He was a young, Kislovan peasant farmer that lived in Pirie. On nights he favored gathering with three of his friends in secret discuss Kislovan freedom from the rule of Sundell. Eventually they had a run-in with several soldiers that turned violent. Emory and his associates were captured and imprisoned. Although Emory's friend Leka perished, Emory survived the run-in. Baroness Ilsabet Obour treated her prisoner well and told him of her plans for public works and to enrich Kislova again. Ultimately, she killed him and reanimated him as a alchemical vampire. Then the baroness sent Emory out to Pirie to tell the people of Ilsabet's plans for public works and to enrich the Kislova once again.

In Pirie, Emory inadvertently killed his brother Arman during a frenzied state spurred by a violent encounter with a wildcat. Emory pinned the blame for the death on the wildcat but eventually took the corpse of his dead brother back Ilsabet to be revived in the same way Emory had. Ilsabet reanimated Arman and kept him as part of her personal guard

Supplemented by hunting prey, Emory fed upon his sheep to gain the blood sustenance he needed. He would assist Arman in capturing prey, though Arman's barbarism of Arman's kills repulsed him. Emory serve as an informant for Baroness Ilsabet on both the attitude of the peasantry and his experience as an alchemical vampire. Eventually, the continued existence of Arman and Emory outweighed their usefulness, and Lord Jorani killed them both under the orders of Baroness Ilsabet.

Current Sketch

Following Kislova's capture by the Mists of the Demiplane of Dread, Emory and Arman have purportedly revived and began preying on sheep again.
