Masters come in many shapes and sizes, often monstrous. Every vampire is the master of its spawn who is its slave. Illithids view the entirety of other races as, at best, their slaves. The fiendish philosophy of Drigor in the Madrigorian espouses the superiority of fiends and their right to unquestioned rule. The fey create changelings from the most competent of individuals of other races, condemning their victims to eternal toil. The Mulan deem themselves to be the masters of the Rashemani, and at least the better of all other races. And of course every apprentice has a master too. A master then is a ruler. That rule is not necessarily exploitative, but it rarely fails to be. The rule is not always experienced as exploitation and is not always resisted, but it often is and so the ruler becomes an oppressor.
