Originally empowered by the Ascended, this secret society is comprised of a group of Grabenite adepts who were corrupted and turned to petty evil by Graben Island's arrival into the Land of Mists. On the Prime Material Plane, the Wise Women could divine the future and could also receive advice from their wise familiars. In Ravenloft, both their prophetic abilities and their familiars have become warped into dark parodies of what they once were (with the familiars becoming dread familiars), and reliance upon both have led the the Wise Women into petty, spiteful evil.[1]
