A Mist Claimer is a Mistborn duplicate of an already existing person in the Demiplane of Dread. A mist claimer comes into existence when one of two things occur[1]:
- the person expresses an interest in performing to enact dark desire or perform another heinous deed but then then not follow through with fulfilling said interest
- in hubris, dare the Dark Powers (or whatever forces of the night the individual believes to exist) to provide the individual with a challenge
