Matherion is the central deity of the Holy Empire and seems ineffably associated with it.[1] His faith is one of expansionism and conversion, as the Holy Empire launches crusades to far off lands in his name. These crusades are seen as a top priority.[2]
Matherion's clergy are referred to as Patos.[2] A step above the Patos is the Arcapatos (high priest of a city or community)[3] The Patos Supremis sits at the top of the hierarchy of the Church of Matherion.[4]
Matherion allows his clergy to be of any Lawful alignment[2], 
suggesting that he is of Lawful Neutral alignment
In 2nd Edition, Matherion's specialty priests may access the spheres of charm, combat, healing, and protection and may cast an extra spell from the charm sphere per day.[5]
