Overview
The Holy Empire of Matherion is an expansionist and religious devout empire that defines its pride on the the lands it conquers and the religious infidels it converts. Those who conquer in the name of the Holy Empire also conquer in the game of their deity Matherion.[1]
The Holy Empire has at least a century and some 70 years of attempted explorations and colonizations, starting during a period of unification after a period of internal strife.[2] Attempted missions have gone west through the Sierra Acora[3][2] and east across

Commander Hernando Moriros is an example.[4] Many of those who go forth to take over foreign lands do so out of a patriotic and religious fervor. Turon is the capital city of the Holy Empire. It is sometimes referred to as a marble city.[4]
Religion
Matherion is the only deity of the Holy Empire that has been mentioned.[6] 
Presumably this means the Empire has a monotheistic belief system. The Church of Matherion has enough power to be granted the leadership of some missions of colonization and conversion by the Emperor.
Cultural Level
The Holy Empire has a Chivalric (CL 8) Cultural Level, complete with the knowledge to make gunpowder.[7]
