The Eye of Vhaeraun is an evil artifact of unknown origin that appears to an observer whatever that individual wants the most (within the limits of plausibility). It compels those whom view it to compulsively obtain it for their own.[1] Even those forewarned may feel its compulsion, although reduced in potency.[2]

Fishermen on Lake Kronov first discovered the Eye's existence. Several of Wyan's inquisitors turned on each other before the artifact was captured and safely locked away.[3] In 751 BC, Loht commanded its theft, along with the kidnapping of Lorelei in order to trade to Tristessa for the Sword of Arak. To Tristessa, it appears as her baby.[4]

As an artifact, the Eye is nearly invulnerable. Its destruction requires it be tossed into a realm of total darkness, such as through the Obsidian Gate into the Plane of Shadow.[5]
