This ancient journal predates the existence of Falkovnia and even Barovia as domains. Despite its name, this journal is not a work of mere science but also contains arcane lore and the combination of the two. It contains details on the works and experiences of Albernarl that includes his experience with Galron, the wizard-king that permitted Albernarl to build a school of sorcery and science. It chronicles Galrun's manipulation of Albernarl and the construction of a machine that could store life energy, enough to allow Galrun's transformation into a higher state of existence unbound by corporeal form (akin to a demilich but this term is never used.) Albernarl spun preservative and protective spells upont he journal shortly before his demise, hoping it would later be found. Untold eons later, Domran eventually stumbled upon the journal looking for secrets to bring back to his master Azalin. Azalin became intrigued and motivated him to seek Galrun's machine out.[1]
