Recorded in the oral history of Forfar, the Blars were a tribe of violent invaders from the northwest of the highlands of the future Kingdom of Firfair. Their invasion was thwarted by the Forfarian highlanders under the leadership of Caral Firfair at the Battle of Deargleitir. Although the Blars were beat back, the war cost many of the lives of the defending highlanders, which inadvertently led to the the founding of the Kingdom of Firfair.[1]
