A spell scroll bears one or more spells. A spellcaster reads a spell from the scroll to cast it, with the words of the spell disappearing as they are read. A spell scroll allows a spellcaster to cast more than his or her daily allotment of spells. Additionally, a spell scroll allows him or her to have at hand a wider range of spells including one or more spells that may rarely be needed but that when needed are essential. Finally, a spell scroll prepared by another spellcaster with access to higher level spells affords a spellcaster access, albeit not without risk, to one or more of those higher level spells. This explains how Professor Pacali can hope to cast the Mystick Cage spell and how Sarlandril was able to cast the Create Faux Henchman spell on Silessa.
