Nice special effects with the scarf/beads, whatever the heck this thing is.

Definitely a rakshasa. My, they're dangerous! I'm afraid this won't turn out well...

che ha l'odore del sangue rappreso
ciò che allora chiamammo dolore
è soltanto un discorso sospeso

He has a very tigerish face, does Mr. Trivedi.

Could Fred be a paladin? He seems to get the super jim-jams in the presence of Horrifying Evil.

A tumbling, leaping Paladin? How amusing! ^^ I think he might have Ethereal Empathy or something similar, though.

By the by, will we ever learn what Trivedi just said in Rajian?

If you can find someone who can read Sanskrit, sure.

Or he could be psychic, what with 4E establishing that as a core power again. (Well, Ravenloft's always had a strong psion-tradition, since they fit with the lovecraft side of things, but you know what I mean.)

If I had to say, I'd definitely say Satine was a Cleric and glasses-gal an 'archery' Ranger, but I am not a doctor. Fred moves like a Rogue or Monk. (Which means we just have a big-lug type left to cover for archetypes. ...well, that and the pet.)

I really like how you do magic, Iz. The shapeshifting feels...like a twisting of nature, instead of 'Hey this is supernatural.' like some comics do. The fire's coloring is really vivid as well, and that's hard as heck to do. I might throw some hints that Ravenloft is D&D-the occasional elf refugee ala Russian royalty after the revolution, halfling oirish workers or the occasional young dwarf sticking his or her nose out of the ghetto on a dare-into your everyday background, so that they do not seem as weird as monsters do, but that is just me.

...

Why is Marie so suspicious of "The Casebook of Alanik Ray"?

Seems pretty innocuous reading to me.

It's a matter of the giver rather than the gift.

Heh heh. So intrigued by a book that she sneaks it off the shelf and reads until morning? Suddenly Santine reminds me of me at that age.

Now I can't get the idea of an Anastasia-style elf out of my head...

Hardwood enthusiasts? Invisible sled dog ghosts? Gravitational anomalies? Wow, Santine sure has a far-ranging imagination!

Er, where does a teenager from tropical Souragne hear about sled dogs, anyway? :?

Well, she did spend a trip on a riverboat talking to sailors. Its not too far fetched that she picked up some strange stories.

And Graben Island is in the same ocean as the mistway to Souragne, but a slightly less Santine-esque answer would be that "someone" she was close to while growing up was slightly better educated than the typical Souragnen field worker.

Oh, I wasn't complaining, just wondering. It occurred to me that if she suddenly knew about dogsleds, yet had previously been so uninformed that she'd never even heard of Azalin, Santine might have come across a reference to them in the Alanik Ray book! (Maybe the Great Detective once solved a case in Vorostokov...)
