Seeing that Rardi has pulled herself free and believing the Kyton to be the priority at the moment, Archedius moves up behind Inovidil and waits for the portcullis to be breached. As much as he hates it, Rardi's wounds will have to wait.

The devil ignores Rardi's prayers and concentrates on Ino.

Four chains from the ceiling strikes at four of Ino's duplicate images, eliminating those four images.

Ironheart eyes Shana somewhat suspiciously, then groans and gets up...

Nodding to Blaise, he asks: "Should I take just this axe, or two of them?"

Shana (if no one objects) is proposing to head rapidly down the the docks, find a boat and head out to the Deadmaster's house. After that: she will play it by ear

Alain looks to the young girl out of the corner of his eye. "Leeches. I am assuming you sell them as fishing bait?"

Keeping his eyes strait forward, Alain's mind reels at the thought of the girlsremoving the cloth covering for the cart. The idea of seeing hundreds of leeches coiled and writhing in a black mass is enough to make anyone lose control of their stomach.

Alain and Mara

Mara laughs.

''Fishing bait? No, silly! I sell them to the chirugeons and physicks.''

Blaise hurriedly says in response to Shana, "Back to the docks, it is! I doubt we'll arrive in time to help Ino and whoever else is with her -- hopefully Rardi at least, she's a clever one -- but we have to try."

He looks at Ironheart, surprised that the massive barbarian is asking his advice on weaponry. "Uh, yeah! Bring both!" He looks at Threan, too, and says, "Ready to go?"

With that, he'll head to the docks to get a boat as Shana suggested.

in transit to the docks-

The hastily assembled party consists of Threan, Ironheart, Shana ,and Blaise. The lot of you rush through the mostly deserted fogbound streets of the city, over canal bridges, and down narrow sidewalks that run along the waterways of Marsember. You arrive at the docks in good time, some of you no doubt panting or sweaty from the race.

Looking about the misty dockside, you can see a number of boats tied up nearby. One of these is occupied- a man sits on the deck of the smallish boat and mends a fishing net. The little craft's sails are furled, and the oars are raised. The fisherman looks over at you party as you approach the dockside in a hurry.

'''Eh! 'Ware the footing- a goodly stretch of that boardwalk is right slippery. Don' want to fall in the drink, I suspect.''

Well beyond the quay, lights twinkle in the fog; houses atop the rocky islands of Marsember's bay.

With only 2 images left, Ino understands that she has to hurry. She grapples 2 bars of the portcullis and tries to bent them so she and her companions can pass through them and get to the kyton. Turning to Archedius she says:

"Archedius, help me with that.”

Archedius rushes over and attempts to help Inovidil bend the bars.

*OOC: Not sure if this is a situation where I'm adding +2 to her check or if I'm also making a strength check. If so my roll is...9 (roll of 5 + 4 str mod). Fail.*

Troll -Ino and Archedius grunt and heave, but all in vain. The heavy bars barely budge, only creaking a little as the two exert themselves attempting to escape the trap.

Rardi chants two prayers in rapid succession, the first one just a few words in length. As she finishes speaking, a nimbus of pearly radiance appears, surrounding her like a halo. With a gesture, Rardi sends some of the light lancing towards the devil- and strikes it!

For a brief moment, the light engulfs the kyton, which screams in anger and pain.

''ARRRRRR!!!''

The light soon fades, leaving a very unhappy devil standing before you.

''THAT HURT. NOW I WILL HURT YOU.''

More chains hanging from the ceiling swing into motion, seeking to grab Rardi. Two hit Rardi; one wrapping around each of Rardi's arms- and then begin pulling very hard in opposite directions. The dwarf is yanked off her feet. Her armor and clothing is beginning to split and tear. Her bones pop as something inside her slides out of joint. Rardi drops to the floor when the chains gripping her rip away sections of her clothing- and skin, and she slips loose.

on the docks-

The fisherman lays aside his partially mended net and stands up in his boat. He takes a good look at your party.

''You lot seem to be in a hurry to get someplace or t'other. You wouldn't be in need of a boat-ride, now would you? My boat's for hire, if the price is right.''
