Archedius holds up his finger indidcating to give him a second. He walks over to Deltherin.

"Let's strip him and then tie all of his limbs backwards. I doubt he'll have the strength to release himself before we could react."

Before stripping him Archedius searches for any keys that could go to the cage.

"No need to get the clothes off, we removed all his magical items. Just need to have him tied well and always have a piece of cloth in his mouth, so he cannot casts spells that have only vocals."

Jamethon greets Alain as the writer takes a seat at the table,

'' Welcome back, Alain. Care for some cold porridge? ''

The ex-priest indicates a bowl on the table before him.
Alain waves off the porridge with his hand without saying a word. He takes a slow drink from his mug of mulled wine, allowing the sounds of the room to bring him around, out of his state of disorientation. A minute or so goes by before he responds to Jamethon.

"It has been a strange night my friend." Holding his mug before him, rested on his lap, he goes over the events. One leading to the next, first the docking yard then the walk with the young girl and then to a near mugging. All of this while the fog slowly constricted around him like a serpent. Never before had he felt so confined in the open air.

"Lose the civility- if he's stripped down he'll have a harder time evading us if he escapes and a harder time hiding anything on himself after we've searched him. Not to mention breaking his spirit a bit. What if he has sigils or some devilry on his skin? We would be fools to not be thorough."

Archedius continues to remove Deltherin's clothes while searching for a key.

Ino looks at Archedius a bit surprised. The warrior acted very strangely for a reason. She pays a side glance at Rardi and says:

"I don't really think is necessary Archedius. Now we have finished with him it's better free the mindflyer."

With that she goes closer to the cage and tries to break the lock.

in the lab-

In short order, the prisoner is stripped, searched, bound and gagged.

Inovidil has confiscated all of Deltherin's magic items: a wand, two rings, a dagger, an amulet, four scrolls in a satchel, and three potion flasks. She also has possession of his travelling spellbook and his belt for carrying spell components/foci.

Archedius finds a set of keys on Deltherin's person. One of these opens the cage. Soon, he has freed the injured mind flayer.

Deltherin is still dazed, but seems to be slowly recovering. He's bleeding from his nose, smashed by Rardi's fist.

Outside, the rescue party under attack

Shana somehow manages to blast one of her attackers with a spell, but the conjured bolt is not enough to make the ghoul let go of her.

The last of the three ghouls that attacked Blaise now attacks Threan. The undead monster rakes the gnome twice with its diseased talons, but this fails to paralyze Threan as it did Blaise.

Threan reacts, hacking the ghoul to pieces with his forward-curving knife.

Ironheart grapples with another ghoul. It bites his arm, but he doesn't freeze up or release it. With a loud grunt, he breaks its jaw and tears off it head, 'killing' it.

Only three remain. These drag Shana into the crawlspace under the porch while her friends are occupied with fighting.

Shana goes into the crawlspace kicking and screaming , but soon an irresitable rigor overtakes her and she finds herself unable to move or cry out. She is conscious yet, and her senses are in no way diminished. In the darkness, she can see only the lambent eyes of the ghouls. She hears them gibber and meep excitedly. Her nostrils are full of their horrid, charnelhouse reek. She feels their clammy hands on her body as they rip away her clothing to get to soft skin and tender flesh. Long, rough ghoul tongues, as cold as leeches, slither over her exposed limbs.

the Old Shell-

Jamethon smiles to hear Alain recount the night's adventures.

''Well, Alain, it certainly sounds as if you had a much more exciting night than I had. I've spent most of my day and evening talking with bargemen, sailors, cargomasters, and longshoremen . I've learned a bit about how the smuggling trade works in this city- but nothing much specific to our present case, I did hear a vague rumor that some group or the other was importing unusual ammounts of weaponry- but that tale was short on useful or consistent details. Rardi approaches Archedius. "You dun look good. Lemme have a look at ye. An stop worrying, yer in good company 'ere." Turning to Inovidil "Oi, ye gots a new spellbook, but I don't like the idea of it, seein as it twer 'is. I'm gonna wanna know any evil spells in it. An they gonna be ripped out n destroyed, no ifs and or buts, Inovidil. As for the items, we can decide later. Is that fine with everyone? I sent a helping hand to Alain so he could find us. Tha others need to know where we are."

"If you must Rardi." He gives her as close to a reassuring smile as he can manage...which comes across as rather ghastly given his appearance.

"When you're finished with me, we need to heal and bind the mind flayer's wounds. It looks to ill at the moment to tell us anything. Who knows what it's been through."

Archedius pulls out his water skin and waits for Rardi to finish examining him.

"We will see what to do with the spellbook, I want to see if I have all the spells in there, later you can destroy it if you want. As about the items, I'll identify them tomorrow."

The ghouls begin to drag Shana deeper into the lightless space beneath the house.

She can hear her friends outside fighting the other ghouls. It's hard for her to tell who is winning, just by the sounds of the combat.

Rardi looks at Inovidil. "I said any evil spells will be destroyed, you aint takin none. Unnerstood?"

OOC: Rardi is very adamant about the spells in the spellbook, given her reaction to necromancers. Just look at how she dealt with Delthrin even if he was practically unconscious. Hope his nose heals poorly :P

Eager to proceed on the house and find if Delthrin has kidnapped a child Inovidil just says:

"We have more serious things to do right now than think about the spells."

There was no chance letting the cleric look at the spellbook before her, but there is no need to fight on that right now.

As waiting Rardi to heal Archedius and then him to free the mindflyer she looks more carefully the lab, the alhemical bottles and the scrolls.

OOC> Ino cannot take necromancy spells, but she wants to look at the spellbook mostly because she is curious to see the spells that are in and because well...she is very interesting in magic and anything that has to do with magic and spells.
