Blaise says to Rardi, "Thank you, dear lady ... I feel much better. That was a disgusting, terrifying experience. I don't think I'll ever look at a piece of steak the same way."
After hearing the quick summary of events, he says, "So Delthrin may be innocent -- but we have only the word of an evil, alien eater of brains for that. Hmm, well. Well, from a consistency standpoint, an illithid is probably as reliable as anyone else we've trusted ... and that's not a good thing.
"I agree with Threan. Let's look around while we can and hopefully find some solid facts."
OOC: Blaise begins searching the study, primarily using detect magic to notice anything of an arcane or hidden nature.

in the study-
Searching the study, Blaise uncovers the following items in or on the writing desk:
Delthrin's journal
an abacus [that registers as magical]
a jewlery box of teakwood, with a velvet lining - it contains a silver and alabaster necklace. There is a handwritten note with the jewelry [ in writing matching the journal] that reads;
For my Daughter-
Love Always,
Your Father
Under the necklace is a folded sheet of colorful paper, a pair of scissors, and a long blue silk ribbon.

Inovidil appears devastated from the news. The thought that a human being most probably would have had a tragic death like that annoys her very much and she has remorse.
"Nobody deserves such death Rardi. Threen is right we knew nothing about Delthrin, we had only assumptions. Good enough to break into his house and investigate, but not enough to stay calm and jaded when he faced such tragic death."
Inovidil gets a deep breath trying to calm and concentrate on the facts. She needed to find at least something against Delthrin to dismiss the guilt she felt. Frowning for a second says:
"I know that might sounds crazy, but Delthrin might have gotten these bodies and...feed their brains to illithid. It's a reason why the bodies are headless, maybe to avoid people to understand that their brain have been used to feed a mind flyer."
When she sees the necklace, the ribbon and the box her face becomes more sad.
"I'm afraid this explain some things. Delthrin had a daughter, maybe this was the missing girl whose name escapes me right now. But anyway we need to find her and talk to her."

Shana emerges from invisibility, still looking shaken and drawing the shattered rags of her clothes around her. (if healed) she thanks Rardi politely.
"bah: the Gnome's mad. He had undead in his house, and a devil. Brain eating's too good for him. But we'd better not push our luck. lets grab what evidence we can and get out of here!"

the study-
The study is not a huge room, and it isn't too crowded [ a desk, some shelves of books, and a pot bellied iron stove for heat]. One door is open and the other is closed. Further searches don't turn up much more than you've already uncovered, just some ordinary writing supplies, wood in the small stove, etc.
While your party is searching the room, a bookshelf spins around and four humanoid figures in plate-and-mail armor and half helms stride into the midst of the room, swinging longswords and bashing with metal shields! They speak in lifeless, monotone voices even as they attack-
WE MOURN FOR DELTHRIN. WE AVENGE DELTHRIN. DEATH TO ALL ENEMIES OF DELTHRIN.
The armored figures fight as a team, covering one another with their shields. Their well coordinated attacks strike each of you: Blaise, Shana, Ino, and Ironheart!

the front of the house
From someplace behind her in the house, she can hear sounds of a scuffle or some such ruckus.
If Rardi looks around out front, she spots an adult human female on the lawn, running away from the house, clutching a bundle of something to her chest.
Rardi soon reaches the front door, which opens onto the verandah. It's still quite dark outside, not that the darkness is any great inconvenience for a dwarf.tarlyn wrote:
Rardi turns on her heel and stomps back out the way the rest of the party entered.

Ironheart manages to knock a big chunk of plaster out of the ceiling, swinging his oar like that. His mighty blow connects with the enemy's helmet with a loud bang. The enemy barely stumbles, and does not cry out in pain or otherwise show signs of having been injured. A second clout deepens the dent in the helmet, but does not drop the attacking swordsman.Rafael wrote: His mouth still full, he begins to swing it over his head,
and then sends it crushingly against the helmet of his oponent.

Inovidil gets a few steps back in order to take as much distance possible from the undead and waveing her hands and casts soundlance.

Laughing aloud, and happy to have found an opponent that proves more resistant than the last ones, Ironheart will begin to hammer on the undead warrior's head like on a drum...ewancummins wrote:Ironheart manages to knock a big chunk of plaster out of the ceiling, swinging his oar like that. Yelling in pain from the sudden, vicious attack, Blaise staggers backwards, unleashing an arcane blast at his foe as he does so. This energy, though, is a disturbing shade of blue instead of the warlock's usual red-and-silver attack.
_______
OOC: Attacking the opponent in front of me with hellrime blast. No time for rhyming!
Point Blank Shot applies, as does Precise Shot if Ironheart is in melee with that one.
Hellrime Blast, at point blank range (1d20+10=20)
Hellrime blast damage (cold) (4d6+1=17) = 17 points of cold damage, and the target must make a DC 17 Fort save or take a -4 penalty to Dexterity for 10 minutes.

Shana barely dodges a sword as she skips back and vanishes with a word and a gesture.
Ino's remaining two images are destroyed now, having been dispelled at a touch by the swords of Delthrin's avengers.
Blaise blasts his icy magic at the swordsman nearest him, striking it in the breastplate. The metal glazes with frost, and Blaise may well have done some real damage to the being underneath the steel- but it's hard to tell.
Ino's spell creates a rumbling blast that tears into one of the swordsmen, ripping open his breastplate. No blood comes forth, but pale flesh and even paler bone may be seen, all ruptured and shorn. The creature fights on, unimpaired by a blast of concentrated sound that would surely have slain a mortal man.
The four unliving swordsmen advance and attack in concert, two each against Blaise and Ironheart. They keep close.
Blaise is cut and Ironheart is struck as well- twice each!

the Old Shell-
Moorkoft nibbles on the remains of his late night snack.
''Ah, Alain- I have fallen into the habit of waking nights and sleeping days. Are you experiencing the like, or no?''
Indeed, Jamethon doesn't look sleepy- despite it being the wee hours of the morning.
By this point, everyone else in the place has gone to sleep.
