Blaise says with a casual air, "Yes, Baron, that would be ideal. I'm sure it'll be an informative conversation." Blaise maintains the jovial, relieved appearance, but he shares an anxious glance with Shana. As he waits for the escort, he again keeps the gem near his fingertips.

Ildool's house-

Ildool's clerk, Randall, provides his master with paper and pen. The baron scratches off a note and has the servant who'd brought the wine run the message out of the room.

It isn't long before the escort arrives: six well-armed men [each with a light crossbow, broadsword, wooden shield on his back, and mail shirt].

''My private guards. They will attend to your personal safety, and prevent your becoming lost on your way to the jail. The narrows streets and canals...I know how easy it can be for one to go astray in this city. It's a bit mazelike in some quarters.''
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

Inovidil admires one more time the barbarian's strength!

"Thank you Ironheart!"

Says as he leaves her cell. Then sits on the bed waiting.

Balzar listens to what Moorkroft tells him. "No problems. I'm a professional meself an proud of it. Weaponsmith that is. Ye'll get no trouble from me only me help."

The dwarf does eye the men with a practiced eye when they enter before
letting Jamethon know under the table they've arrived. He isn't impressed by them in any case, they're probably big talkers but have no balls. Downing his ale, he makes asign for another one and belches loudly.

When the man is done talking, he keeps a hand near his axe and the other of course near his tankard. Looking at him with a big smile, he says "I could say the same about you, friend. I only know him here, so I think we're on even ground. I'm not any trouble at all.... unless you plan to harm Jamethon here, understood? The notches on me axe aren't from a pen-knife."

He sips his new ale and keeps an eye the three newcomers. His hand never strays far from his axe and his shield is leaning on the table, close to his drinking arm.

Shana is going with the flow, cheerfully enjoying the wine, and listening respectfully to Lord Ildool. She is behaving as if Blaise is the senior member of the duo... definitly following his lead.

Bailiff's Gaol

Ino
Ino hears voices in the hall, before she sees anyone approach. One voice is clearly that of Rask:

''If your thugs beat my watchman again, I'll have Ironheart rip off their arms and shove those so far up their arses that you'll feel it. You can complain to the Baron later, for all I care.''

Another voice, it sounds like the Bailiff:

''Look, I didn't order this nonsense. Those men will be removed from duty and punished.''

Rask-

''Not good enough- I'm petitioning His Lordship for a transfer to my facilities. You know damn well that you've got Sergeant Silverhelm by the horns, but not this one. Not for murder. The worst you've got on her is burglary
.''

Bailiff-
''He won't approve it, you know that.''

Rask-

''Won't he? After this, I think I like my chances, Davos.''

Watch-Captain Rask enters. His face is tense and tightly-controlled.

Ironheart stands impassively near the door.
The bailiff stands just outside with three soliders. All four of them seem to be very wary of Ironheart.

Rask addresses Inovidil,

''Ironheart told me what happened. I'm going to work on getting you out of here. In the meantime,Ironheart has volunteered to stay with you as backup. If you have any issues with the jailers...just let the big fellow know. He'll sort it out.''

The bailiff nods, face flushed with what might be either anger or embarassment.

Rask smiles and winks at Ino. He moves closer, pretending to examine her for injuries. He whispers in her ear-

''Don't know how she did it, but Rardi has escaped. ''
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

"Thank you again, Baron," says Blaise. "Until tomorrow then." He bows politely and turns to the closet guard. "Lead the way." He looks at Shana and says, "Come, my dear."

As they walk with the guards and leave Ildool's residence, Blaise reaches out and grasps Shana's hand lightly but warmly. After a few seconds and an affectionate glance, Blaise releases her hand -- but not before Shana is able to tell that Blaise is holding a small, multifaceted object in that hand. "Do you know what I admire about the Baron, my love? His swift mind. He's clearly ready for anything, ready to pounce on every opportunity for success. If only we all possessed that quality..."

A young and hale man with a circluar bruise around the crown of his skull brandishes an axe and lifts the cellar door, upon seeing the...thing down there, he puts the axe into his belt.

"Are you with Okithruu? He suprises me sometimes with his overt moments. Makes me wonder how old he is to be honest. What's your business here. There's a VERY pregnant woman in this house that you've scared nearly to miscarriage. Explain yourself."

Threan starts in from his point of view of what happened that day :"When the rescue party finally got to Ino and Rardi in the house . I asked what happened . And Rardi said that they had overcome Delthrin after freeing the Mind Flayer .
Rardi and Ino said to me that they then decided that without any evidence or proof of him being guilty of in the beheadings case, also without letting him defend himself by word or deed that he was not guilty .

After I pointed out to Rardi that Mind Flayers are eaters of humanoids brains .

She just said that Delthrin got what he deserved for just being a Necromancer .

" Threan pauses after his lengthy recitation Speaking an aside to one of the Gnomes dusting the shop ."Alth get me a cup water will you ." After getting the water he says something in a language that sounds like grinding rocks to the fellow . After saying this the fellow leaves the shop on a errand apparently .
With that Threan drinks down the water after swishing it around in his mouth to wet his whistle . Then he resumes his the tale from his point of view and the conclusions he came to :
"After I heard all this from them in their own words I decided that they have no respect for the law although they were members of the watch themselves .
Then as such I concluded that they could not be trusted as they liked to act as judge, and jury without benefit trail for the accused .

As I was retained as a consultant on the smuggling case and a new member of this community I thought it was incumbent on me to inform the proper authorities of these
Rogue Watchmen . As soon as I was able to ."
"Evil only endures when good people remain silent ."
Tony inspired by Thomas Jefferson .

Shana nods and smiles at Blaise

"I know, I know. The city is lucky to have him. That kind of mind is just what is needed to bounce back from a disaster, such as Marsember has suffered."

Inovidil is really happy when she recognizes Captain Rask's voice. The man is doing his best to save her and the evoker regrets one more time for not letting him know what she, Rardi and Archedius had planned to do. Things would have been better if Rask knew about their secret mission...

The witch cannot help her smile when finally can hear Rask's words and the way he was talking to Bailiff. She puts her hand at her still aching stomach. At least she would have better treatment now.

"Thank you Captain. I'm really glad to see you again! I'm sure Ironheart will protect me if necessary."

She smiles warmly to the barbarian.

When Captain Rask told her about Rardi Inovidil's eyes go wide, she wants to learn more but she knew that this wasn't the right time and place for such discussion. So she follows his lead and pointing her stomach says:

"The man punched me at the stomach and he was going to hit me with a metal fist. I was really lucky Ironheart heard me screaming and came in to save me."

Inovidil smiles to him again.

"Thank you again for what you did Ironheart."

Ingleoarn Home for Orphans-

A small child holds up her empty bowl,

''Please, sir, may I have more?''

''I'm sorry, but we've had to cut back, little one. We mayn't be having fresh food for a while.''

''Oh. Why?''

''Never you mind that, just run along and play, alright?''

The cook turns aside so that the little one cannot see his bitter tears.

in a lightless warehouse, a crowd of child-sized fiends sit in grim conclave

''Creatures of the Black One no longer hunt usss.... ''
''Yessss''

''Now we are free to hunt!''

Listening to Threan's story brings with it a small series of emotional reaction which settle into the pit of Alain's gut.
The first of which being an understanding of Shana's and Blaise's sentiments. Alain himself being a person not bothered with the course of law and its applications. He now can fully understand as to why they reacted the way they had.

Second brings about a shameful comprehension as to why Threan reacted the way he had. He thought about how people react differently to situations based on where there life experiences had taken them. It was apparent Threan had come to trust the letter of the law whether at one time it had come to his aid or that of a loved one or if he had just been raised that way. He didn't agree with it of course, but Threan couldn't be faulted for his faith in what was socially right.

Lastly, Alain accepted that in this instance, he must remain neutral. This was a sad realization. He had hoped to find an ally in all this mess and he knew that one party would never be able to forgive the other unless under extreme circumstances and Alain was no grand manipulator.

"Listen," Alain began. "I want to thank you for telling me your side of things. I don't agree with what you did, but that doesn't really matter. You did what you believed was right, and a majority of the local society would agree with your actions. I also don't agree with the parties harsh judgment they handed down on Delthrin." He stops for a moment, carefully considering his words, something the ramble mouthed bard doesn't usually restrict himself to.
"Regardless, I still want to see this investigation through to the end. If you ever need my help. Just ask. Know that I am willing to work with the others as well."

The man noticably shivers, "I'm coming down there, stay quiet for a moment."

When he is down in the cellar near the thing, he leans in towards its face and whispers ,

"The name of this body is Toran, the name of this mind is Archedius. Okithruu's culture and morality is different than our own, though he meant well for me. I wasn't specific enough during the bargain. Something tells me that you weren't specific either...were you Rardi."
