Back to Basics Chapter 1: Where are we ?

Spying on the scene from behind a big tree, hidden from the two very surprised monkey-men, Dalorna quietly mumbles an incantation, and then makes a grasping motion with her right hand.

[Lord Skybolt]

The club that Dalorna send so expertly through the head of one the monkey men suddenly lifts out of what left of it's head and flies back to Dalorna's waiting hand .

[BigBadQDaddy]

The Professor is barely able to stammer out the word, "P-Pig!" as he raises his arms in a feeble attempt to protect himself. As he is on the ground, he is unable to simply fend off the beast as his obvious crippled leg prevents him from simply standing up and defending himself.

[VAN]

As Sara hears the combat in distance she hurries to arrive, but at the same time she tries to get cover so whoever her friends are fighting will not see her. When she gets closer she looks around.

Arnulf moves to one of the two remaining monkey men, and attacks him with his short sword and dagger!

As her rousing song begins to ring out, Alia reaches down and tries to help the professor put a tree between himself and the pig.

(OOC: Tarlyn, I hope you remembered the plus 1 attack and damage )

Arnulf moves to finish off the survives of the impromptu ambush . He gets in one attack that kills one of the survivors stabbing it through the chest . That one gurgles and dies as blood burst from it's month in it's death's throws . Isidar meanwhile swings at the other and knocks that "monkey mans" head clean off as that one turns to escape from the mercy of the party .

Dalorna leans against a big tree to steady herself as she surveys the scene of carnage-


''Oh! I killed him. I didn't know I could throw so hard. I just wanted to knock him out. I had thought we wanted prisoners. Wasn't that the plan? We killed them all! Ummmmm....I really hope that these were the same monkey-men that stole those human children; and not hunters from another village, or something like that.'''

She sucks in a deep breath and slowly exhales.

''I've never killed a person before. These monkey-men are people, I think, even if they aren't humans...ummm, or dwarves.''

[VAN]

After a few moments of not hearing battle cries Sara decides that the battle has been most probably over so she runs there. She notices that none of them was injured badly and smiles.

"Sorry I'm late, the village isn't that close. I saw the children there and I count many monkey-men both at the trees and in the village. I don't think we can go go there and free the children without fighting them. But as I can see you are good in close combat so we have good chances!"

Arnulf looks at his blooded weapons in awe, his first battle over. He can barely stand in place, proud of himself. He looks at the others with a grin so big. He listens to Dalorna speak about the monkey men, but unwise as she is says "I bet they are part of those who stole the children. They deserved to die. I am not sorry they are dead for that reason. Hopefully we can now find the children and bring them back to the village."

Arnulf smiles, looks at his sister then at his weapons and blurts out "We totally killed those monkeymen! That was so awesome! Ironheart would be so proud of how I handled myself. ONe day I'll be as good as he was, one day.....", the boy can't stop smiling. "I .. I killed two! Wow, I hope we get to fight some more.."

After Sara returns with the information, Arnulf says "So what are we waiting for? Let's go save the children."

''Ironheart? Isn't he that crazy barbarian that beat you almost to death? I don't understand why you think he's so great. Uhhh, boys are silly...''


Dalorna shakes her head.


Looking at Sara, she says-


''Please take us to the village now. We can formulate a plan - quietly talking- as we move. Some sort of distraction or ruse is called for- I don't think that taking on the whole village at once is a good idea.''

Taking a deep breath, she looks around.

''Oh! Take those metal nets- we might be able to use them- and they are probably quite valuable. Is it stealing if we keep them? ''

Alia keeps her eye on the pig while helping the professor to his feet. If it seems to be running off, she will end her song and quietly fall in behind the others. If it seems aggressive, she will shoot it, and move away from the professor, trying to draw it onto her instead of him.

[Lord Skybolt]

As Alia watches the large "Pig" seeming to sense to no hostility towards it moves back into the forest in opposite direction it came from moving by the Alia and Huln as it leaves .

[VAN]

Sara says in low voice:

"I will show you where are the guards on the trees, then if some of you make noise or something to distract them I can sneak in the village and try to free the children so they can run. You can cover our way out because of course there is no chance to leave the village with the children unseen."

Looking at the pig she adds:

"Maybe the pig can help us, is it possible to get it with us and then get it enrage again so the monkey men will follow it while I sneak in the village?"

As the Professor is helped to his feet, he watches as the pig makes it's casual getaway.
"...Oh, thank the gods. I swear that beast was about ready to tear me apart. Is every on alright? Is anyone hurt?"
