If that damage is Physical then I'm starting to bleed out at -2. not sure what all the damage is but if it's a sneak attack technically i'm not flat footed having taken an action. Anyways looks like this went a bit more peaceful than I thought. Nice blow btw, I'd like to roll a spell craft if possible to determine the other effect that made most of us black out. Let me know if that's possible.

Also if it was a sunder attempt without the feat "improved sunder" I get an AoO. It's unclear if it's just cutscene or what actions were taken.

FYI, neither attack was a sneak attack or a sunder attempt. Raf knows the rules and he knows how to run. I trust his interpretation of dice rolls and rules, and his narrative ability.

And yes, I cleared my PC going first after the blackout with the GM. I triple-checked all that stuff, wanting to be 100% fair. I'm not trying to be a dick.

You guys don't know certain things about Otto, and let's just leave it at that till you learn more in play.

Now, are the other PCs going to force Otto to actually start killing people, or are they going to use social skills and investigation to deal with the situation?

As far as I am concerned, there is no 'party' in this game. The PCs are all a bunch of strangers. My previous PC and Tarlyn's previous PC were the only two characters who knew each other and traveled together before the game began. It's only been a a day and a night, guys. I dunno about you all, but I am RPing with the lack of connections among the PCs very much in mind. I'm not going to treat your characters as anything but strangers till you give me a reason to play otherwise. We might form a party, but no such party now exists, IMO.

Given the regime change, Mayor Otto might be glad of cooperation from citizens or travelers. Hint, hint.

Forcing Otto to start killing people doesn't really enter into it. Threats don't matter at all.

Nicodemus has spent a night with a small group of people that seem to actually be trying to help the town survive. In the morning, a member of that group is almost immediately attacked by the representative of what seems to be a particularly harsh regime. He'll fight to the death to defend Ammanas unless he feels that Ammanas will face a fair judgement. So far, he hasn't seen any sign that Ammanas is going to be treated fairly.

So, Nicodemus could go either way. I'll just RP it out and see how it goes.

For the record, I've never had any doubts in Raf's knowledge or abilities. I'm simply looking for clarification on what's going on. I don't want anyone to get the impression that I was upset about being skipped or something. I'm just trying to figure out what my character would do next. No worries.

The Blackout supersedes all actions after Otto's. Not because I want to punish the party,
but because I got about twenty PMs between this update and the one before that, and this is about what the result would be.

While I appreciate your enthusiasm, I advise you to keep your actions AS CLEAR AS POSSIBLE,
because, frankly, neither do I have the time to spend an hour deciphering some of your ideas,
nor do I want to railroad you guys to salvation through endless metagaming.


This game is super-deadly. Act smart. Act decisively. Act focused. Don't modify your actions twenty times in a row.

Or it will cost ya.


Also, please, do not around with authority, with physics, or whatever.

I am not talking about "not doing what the DM wants", but "snuggling on a tree" and other crap will lead to your annihilation, plain and simple.

Jumping in and raising the cane would have been enough. Otto wouldn't have had time to hear the whsiper, I'm afraid. I have to stick with my previously declared actions and such.

Sounds good. I tried, anyway. Just like World War I, the unintentional reaction of prior readied alliances have lead to unavoidable combat.
