Just wait until we start doing the relationship readings. Then we'll see nonsensical.

NeoT has been lamenting his lack of a button, so I made him one.

I don't know much about her, though.

Re: Hazlan, Land of Monsters OOC
I am rather massively impressed. So preeeeetty. *_*
(In Chicago and have wi-fi, but apparently the kind of tourism schedule I do leaves rational thoughts in the evenings something that happens to other people. So please accept my vapid praise, I'lll come up with something more eloquent when I return).
On the bright side, saw man-eating tigers, a T-Rex, and a seriously awesome collection of Tibetan... thingies... today.

Re: Hazlan, Land of Monsters OOC
After some discussion with Nathan, it looks like I misjudged how many feats I get--I get one more! Any suggestions? I'm looking at Eschew Materials, Antagonize, Spell Focus (conjuration), or maybe an item creation feat.

The character building gnome is getting behind Spell Focus (Conjuration) as a stepping stone to Augment Summoning. He's also wondering if you have any feats related to ride if you're riding the eidolon around.

Re: Hazlan, Land of Monsters OOC
That was indeed the logic of getting SF:C, although I wish the prerequisite feat wasn't such a waste. As for ride feats, I'll consider them, although I figured Vasili's riding technique was more of the "hold on for dear life" variety than any kind of elegant combat technique.Isabella wrote:The character building gnome is getting behind Spell Focus (Conjuration) as a stepping stone to Augment Summoning. Re: Hazlan, Land of Monsters OOC
I'd like a card reading, but I see Vasili getting a traditional Tarroka reading as a child, perhaps using the Tower setup. Do you do that style, or should I do it myself?Isabella wrote:At Nathan's request, I have created the H:LoM "wacky hijinks and random stuff" thread, and stuffed it full of Tarotka readings (Nathan has started calling my Tarokka Tarot deck "tarotka", so that's where that word came from.) If anyone would like to request a card reading, post it here and we can boggle over nonsensical cards and make stuff up to try and shove a square peg into a round hole perform one for you.

Well, I don't actually own the traditional tarokka deck >.> (My brother does, but he's off in Zion right now. Them suckers are expensive.) And I don't think I recognize the Tower setup?

It's probably already clear from the IC stuff, but if a Mulani head of household refers to a member of their household (other than their own biological or adopted children) as "son/daughter", it's a marker for "This is a serious conversation"--usually about stuff that is important to the whole house. It may also be used to indicate heightened formality or on some ceremonial occasion.

Re: Hazlan, Land of Monsters OOC
OK! Time to discuss extracurriculars!
It is more fun (and very useful to me as the DM) to have people do stuff like "help flesh out the campaign world" and "draw awesome pictures" and "make buttons so it's clear which post is addressed to whom". And it is nice for helpful participatory people to be rewarded! So I am thinking out how do to the rewarding.
In past campaigns NeoTiamat tried two things: giving out experience points, and giving out Reroll Tokens. The problem with the former is that you end up with players being at different levels, which can be tiresome for having everyone feel like they are an important part of the team, etc. There isn't really a problem with the latter, but I would like to have a more flexible system whereby you could get other things too.
I would like to generate a little schedule of payments for projects (article=X tokens, picture=Y tokens, etc etc) and reward prices (5 tokens gets you one reroll, 50 gives you a new attribute, 100 gets you a feat...something like that), but I'd like to get input on
a) what people would like to/are able to contribute?
b) how much should one page of text, one picture, etc. count toward one reroll (taking the reroll as a basic unit of exhange)?
c) what you think relative prices ought to be--that is, taking the reroll as the basic unit of exchange again, how many rerolls are equal to a skill point, an attribute, a feat, 1000 gp for items, etc.?

Re: Hazlan, Land of Monsters OOC
Last evening in Chicago, but I'm back at the hotel early and not very tired, so I'll toss my two cents in.Nathan of the FoS wrote:a) what people would like to/are able to contribute?
b) how much should one page of text, one picture, etc. count toward one reroll (taking the reroll as a basic unit of exhange)?
c) what you think relative prices ought to be--that is, taking the reroll as the basic unit of exchange again, how many rerolls are equal to a skill point, an attribute, a feat, 1000 gp for items, etc.?
a) Basically, I can write just about anything required, and I have some historical knowledge I can contribute -- I've been working on Domains so I can and probably will keep doing those for a while. I can also stat up characters or monsters, or develop combat encounters, and have a fair amount of experience doing both.
b) Since I've already done some stuff, I'll recuse myself here.
c) Off the top of my head (I'll start with the feat actually, since it's easier that way)
--1 feat is worth 3-4 skill points (based on Skill Focus and similar feats)
--1 feat is worth 2 Traits (explicitly stated)
--1 Trait is worth 2 skill points (how most of them go)
--+2 to an attribute is worth 1.5 feats (based on how Humans seem to go)
--Money is trickier since it increases exponentially (a feat is worth a feat regardless of whether you're level 5 or level 15, but 3000 gp matters a lot more to the former than to the latter). My inclination is to do something like 1 skill point is worth 500 gp, but it might be better to have it be a formula based on wealth per level, in which case I'd say something like 1 feat = 20% of your wealth-by-level amount
--Rerolls don't really have a fit into anything, since they're an expendable resource, and how good they are is dependent on whether you can use them after you learn that you've failed something, or whether you have to spend them 'blind'. But my instinct is that a reroll is worth about a skill point or half a skill point.
Something to note is that skill ranks are a little less valuable than skill bonuses, since ranks cap out at your level, whereas the bonus from a feat or trait can go up. Anyway, this isn't a supremely rigorous evaluation so much as something to get thinking started - the shoulder-gnome can probably come up with a better system than I.
