Filbert looks at her for a moment in order to make sure she is confident with this choice and if this is what she really wants. Then says:

"If you are not back in a week meet me at the side street we arrived near the palace same time next week, I will get you back."

Rennault has already taken a half-step toward the wounded Duke, bloodied sword in hand, when Safana argues to stay behind. He stops mid step, and squints at her.

"Why the hell risk it?" He shakes his head. "Your funeral. Fly fast, dove."

He still keeps his sword in hand, but instead moves to secure Carilon instead of finishing him off. "Ready when you are, Lord Halfie," he tells Filbert.

Roald looks to Safana and nods. "Be careful, Safana. And remember there are boats waiting on the Alamie side of the Tuor just outside of the city. I tasked the Temple's specialist with guarding them. We'll have a grand welcome waiting for you when you return." He makes sure to remind her of the exact location of where the boats are supposed to be.

Cormac looks nervously towards all the charging, armed men and his group of companions. "Righ', well, I've no interest in headin' back to a dungeon so, ye know, I'm hopin' ye have more in mind fer the plan then this..."
"Of course," Benn mutters, "It would be a damned shame if we ever knew what the hell was actually going on."

With his right hand Filbert gets Carillon's hand and with his left Cormac's and says:

"Right, everyone hold hands as we did when we came here. Cormac, just trust me please."

With a last glance at Safana Filbert says:

"Good luck, hope to see you in Car Haes really soon."

A flat-nosed, short and stout fellow leans over the knife-scarred counter, staring at Morgan. He gestures towards cuts of dried meat hanging at his back.

"What can I get you, fresh or preserved?'

Morgan notes a rickety looking wooden door behind the counter.
"Fresh, if you wouldn't mind." Morgan asks for prime cuts of whatever animal is freshest in the shop, while having a closer look at the door. "Do many gnolls frequent your shop?"

The butcher's pallid face turns the nasty gray of old liver. He reaches down and fumbles under the counter, muttering ''already made my payments this week."

CAER ALAM

Seeing enemies closing in on all sides, Safana weaves her spell of vanishing. The Khinasi woman covers the whole party with her concealing magic, so that they cannot even see one another.

An officer shouts-
"It's just a magician's trick, men. As we drilled, now!"

The soldiers immediately begin searching the area around the gate with lines of footmen moving in close formation, arms interlinked. The horsemen patrol the streets beyond the concentric circles of footmen.

Men with bloodhounds come up and begin to sniff around the edges of the area.

Servants step out onto the castle walls and scatter buckets of soot onto the already dirty outer walls.

Lord Filbert and the others feel the street shake under their feet...

HAES

Lord Filbert and his companions, along with the pale, still Duke Carilon, reappear in the middle of the street before the walls of Caer Haes.

Safana is not with them.

ROALD, HAES

Roald sighs in relief and wipes the blood from his brow. He looks to the others and their prisoner. "To the castle, quickly!"

"Don't tell me we've killed another one!" He looks to the priest and the druid. "Comrac, Foerde, I don't suppose either of you could use your magic to keep our high born prisoner from prematurely meeting with Haelyn?

Morgan puts on a friendly expression, flipping a gold piece onto the counter.
"How about I pay *you* to tell me what you know about our friend the gnoll?"

Under his cloak, Morgan's hand rests on the hilt of his sword, waiting to see if the shopkeeper will produce a weapon from behind the bar.

Foerde, Haes.

When they appear on the streets of Haes, Foerde also sighs in relief. Wiping both blood and sweat from his brow, he looks over towards Roald and then down at Duke Carilon.

"I can heal his wounds but some one better fetch the Archeplate." He says.

Moving over to the downed Duke, Foerde begins chant a prayer of healing...
History prefers legends to men. It prefers nobility to brutality, soaring speeches to quiet deeds. History remembers the battle and forgets the blood. What ever history remembers of me if it remembers me at all, it shall only be the fraction of the truth.

Duke Carilon draws a raspy, weak breath, but does not open his eyes or speak.

He might yet perish, Foerde may judge.

No one can see the Archprelate anywhere in the area; certainly not close enough to quickly 'fetch' His Holiness.
