Termelan smiles warmly. "I have nothing sceduled, although I would like to perform in the streets during the celebrations for his Grace's wedding. And even that, I could set aside if work demanded it. For the right price of course. But I don't worry about that; you seem like an honest and generous man. I believe I'll be offered my fair wages for whatever you have in mind.
How may I call you, sir?"

''I'm Gwyllem Reed."
Gwyllem scratches the stubble on his plump face.
"You declaim well. If you can read and you have also got a sharp memory, you might be the man I need. How about playing not in the street but under a roof? I'm hiring mummers for a play I'm putting the finishing touches on, a historical piece about the War of Brothers. Interested in the opportunity for an audition?"

''Excellent. We'll be holding an audition tomorrow at midday. Outdoors under the arch of the broken bridge if the weather allows, or else in the taproom of this pub. Arrive a little early. If you know any really good performers, feel free to bring one or two as a guest, but please don't show up with a gaggle of amateurs.''

Filbert and Dominica

Filbert bows one more time at the Archprelate and says:

"If you may excuse us your Holiness I think we should get at the task immediately, we will get back to you when we have the information you need."

Turning to Dominica adds:

"I think we should better talk in a private room in the Cathedral or at your place, I don't trust the servants of the palace. The first thing we should do is find out who will get benefit from a split up. Shall we?"

"Yes, Lord Filbert, I agree. Trust is a very precious commodity anywhere. We shall go to my place of business." She turns to leave.

Her manservant is not fast enough to her taste, and once he is beside her she grabs him by the chin. "Keep up, GIMP, and please don't make me wait again." Her eyes bore into his. The lad shudders and keeps pace.

"Sounds like a plan. I will come by at sunset if it's ok hopefully with some useful information. Ah, make sure you ask about any new riff raff. Nobbles rarely do the dirty job themselves they use to hire people to do it for them and maybe they got their own men for this job. Also we need to check the expensive inns, people that want to spread rumors or get in their hands money tend to get there to spend them. Keep your eyes open for new rich merchants or mercenaries that came recently and spend a lot."

Filbert doesn't comment Dominica's treatment to Gimp, afterall he knows only few things about this woman but enough to be sure that she knows what she is doing!"

"Agreed, Lord Filbert. I shall put out some feelers already in the more costly Inns this very day. I await your return with patience."

"Great, good luck and we will meet later."

The halfing exits the temple and follows his own plan.

SEARCHERS

Roald lights the thicket on fire and pours oil onto the dead brush as the elves and men trade arrow-fire.
In another moment, the elves burst from the smoky den, stabbing with obsidian headed spears and bronze knives, trying to cut their way free.
But iron plate and mail holds against stone and bronze; the men take no serious injuries in the elves' sudden break-out.

Roald bull-rushes one of the savages, knocking him down and pinning him to the hard ground.

Renn hamstrings a fleeing elf woman with a low blow of his broadsword. The fallen woman grabs at his boots and tries pulling him down with her. He kicks the crippled knife-ear into the smoldering bushes. She screams and thrashes in the oily, blackening brush, only stirring up the flames higher.

Cormac, standing back a little from the front line fighters, has just knocked another arrow when a wild elf leaps from over a boulder and sends the druid scrambling backward to avoid a spear thrust. The Northman priest jerks his bow to the side and makes rapid, clumsy jabs at the frenzied elf with the iron-tipped arrow held like a slender dirk.

And over all the clamor of the battle rises Sir Boarhort's hearty laughter. The heavy-set knight wheels about, swinging his hammer and punching with his painted shield.
And elf falls before his wild strokes, brains leaking out from a staved-in skull.

One elf gets away, racing for the treeline, not slowed by rough ground or thick cover.

A silver-furred beast leaps up at the fugitive as he nears the trees, but the elf dodges the creature and leaps for the trunk of a big pine.

Ned appears near the tree climber and chunks a rock at him. The elf screams when the stone strikes him, but holds his grip and swings into another tree, deeper into the stand of timber.
The elf disappears from sight...

SAFANA

kintire wrote:Safana takes a cautious look out of the door before seeking the watch and a healer, ensuring the attackers have actually gone!
The attackers seem to have left. She finds no sign of them except some footprints in the mud, leading down the crooked alleyway by the tavern and away from the street.

As she heads back to her ''wizard's tower'', a door opens in the front of the tavern behind which the thugs had fled. But the man who steps out doesn't look anything like the alley-men who attacked the man Safana rescued; he wears no hooded mask to hide his handsome features, and his travel-stained but bright-colored clothing befits a jongleur better than a footpad.

TEMERLAN

Stepping out into the street, Temerlan sees a woman moving past the doorway, down the lane. Inky hair spills over the folded hood of her drab cloak. He catches only a glimpse of her face, fine features and skin the color of chochalatl.
In another moment, this graceful lady may be gone; she appears intent on some errand.

Termelan takes a look at the foreigner woman. On an impulse he gives a wave to get her attention.
"Good evening my lady. Pardon my assumption if it gives any offence but you seem a foreigner in this part, as am I. In any case, the hour is late and this fine neigborhood could be somewhat less safe for a lone woman. Would you like me to accompany you? If your husband wouldn't take offence of course.
You can ask the innkeeper here to make sure that I'm not a criminal, or inform watchmen that I offered my help to you so that if anything happens to you they will automatically know who to go after."

Filbert

After leaving the Cathedral Filbert makes a mental list of the inns he should check for new outlaws. He goes back to the palace and heads to his room, gets his disguise kit out and inspects it, he has everything he needs. Then he changes his outfit chosing one of those he wore when he was just a jester off duty, he congratulates himself for keeping them. If he wants to pass for a poor guy he needs to look like one. He ruflles his hair so they will not be combed in the latest fashion, takes from the kit a fake nose, a dark brown wig and couple crayons, a small mirror and exits in a hurry trying to avoid the corridors that use the servants. Once outside he hides behind an empty house and disguises himself. Once he is done he looks like a totally different halfing, he has even got a small scar at his cheek. He looks himself at the mirror and sattisfied heads at the first at his list. Once inside he pretends to look for an empty table but at the same time studies the patrons of the inn. Then he makes his way to a table at the center of the room passing closer to those that he finds a bit suspicious avoiding any eyecontact but trying to eavesdrop their conversaton.

Cormac hustles to improve his angle on the fleeing elf. "Oy, Ned! Good throw!" he shouts as he lines up with his bow and lets fly.
"Of course," Benn mutters, "It would be a damned shame if we ever knew what the hell was actually going on."
