Craft check, untrained, to remove the pelt and scrape it.
She's no tanner, but she might be able to do something really basic with it on a good roll.

Otherwise it's going to rot after removal. The whole carcass will rot, though the night will be cool so it won't decay soon.
Magic might preserve it.
No tanner on hand and nobody in the party has hunter or furrier's skills and tools.
Delight is to him- a far, far upward, and inward delight- who against the proud gods and commodores of this earth, ever stands forth his own inexorable self.

If Klokulf prepares gentle repose in one of his 2nd level spell slots, he could preserve the pelt for 5 days at a time. That could make it last until we met a proper tanner.

Between gentle repose and a nat 20 on Kat's untrained Craft check, you will have a wonderfully preserved cave bear pelt.

When you do meet a tanner, he can finish it without difficulty. Kat did a great job of starting.

After we secure lodging, Klokulf will make inquiries about the road to Maur-Eturo. He will also ask if there are any sites of interest (or places to be avoided) nearby. He doesn't want to mention the witch-kings or the Sons of Orcus directly, but he will pry for some historical information in hopes of finding out if any locations mentioned tie back to them.
