"A full set of (game) rules is so massively complicated that the only time they were all bound together in a single volume, they underwent gravitational collapse and became a black hole" (Adams)
I beg to differ, while this is a very interesting and really well done lich, this is not as I picture Azalin; my Azalin is an old man with steel in his back and fire in his eyes, but always human in appearance.
I can imagine him that way when in public. But when he's alone and weary, and the burden of putting on a mask is too great, this is how I see him: a sad sack of bones in finery that only mocks his essential nature, held together by the worst kind of black magic and his inability to admit defeat and move on.
Mangrum's depiction forces the fraternity to consider a singular and extremely important question.... who knitted Azalin's scarf?
At least it's less red. I don't have a lot of respect for the Elrod's War with Azalin after the dirty he and/or Wizards did the fandom with their spat or whatever went down. I don't really care who is guilty, just that the book was underwhelming and lacks professionalism and so I kind of hate everything related by association.

Elrod is a woman.
