Re: New to Ravenloft? Or new to our forum? introduce yourself!
Hello to all the newbies!
I'm Dash AKA The Arcane Weirdo. I'm something of a newbie myself, only been here since October, but it's been a very productive couple of months. I've been catching up with the lore, writing some fanfiction and even experimenting with creating gameplay content! Look it up!
Now I'm trying to start an online campaign? Sorta? It's going to be very sandboxy, very experimental... Read what I wrote in the actual thread, I explained everything there:
viewtopic.php?t=12178
I'd really appreciate it if y'all join, so I won't end up RPing with myself...

Hello everyone! I decided to hop on here after obsessing over learning the history of Ravenloft and homebrewing my own following a CoS campaign five years ago. It was the first (and to date only) DnD campaign I’ve ever had the opportunity to fully complete with others so the setting is sentimental to me. I love the fact that there are others so similarly enamored by it and hope to enjoy this shared passion with as many of you as I can.

Welcome aboard. ^_^ I invite you to have a look around our wiki, Mistipedia, and our library of netbooks - both available through the main page - if you haven't already.DarkDruid wrote: Tue Mar 17, 2026 11:27 pm Hello everyone! I shall plant them in memory of my first character that wielded a Gulthias staff and whose soul was fused to it upon his untimely demise, becoming a sentient weapon now held by his former partner.

Re: New to Ravenloft? Or new to our forum? introduce yourself!
Hi everyone I'm new to the forum. A few Decades ago
I used to hang out on the Kargatane forums. Even submitted ideas when they used to make compendiums. I'm a huge Ravenloft fan, I was a 2ed DM in highschool and a 3ed player in College.
I moved from Canada to the Netherlands In 2010 and I had to abandon my extensive 2ed /3ed collection. I dropped out of DnD for several years and now Im rediscovering my interest in Ravenloft. I started rebuilding my collection via Vinted, ebay and Marktplaats. I have the new books but I honestly don't like them and I've been converting the 2ed 3ed stuff to 5e. I currently do one shots campaigns I Rotterdam and helping people to discover the lore of 2ed.
Just FYI These are the books I was able to find anyone with a lead on any Ravenloft book under 30 euros please let me know!
-Domains of Dread
-Castle forlorn (full boxset)
-book of crypts
-Van Richten's hunter companion vol2
- Darklords
-The awakening
-Chiling tales
-Desidents of darkness 3ed
I Strahd the war against Azalin
Mordenheim
Heart of Darkness
Tapestry of Darksouls
Endless tales : Night of the Tiger

Re: New to Ravenloft? Or new to our forum? introduce yourself!
Greetings! I go by many names: BackseatGamer, Chief Mathan, the Iron Gut. But you may call me... Alex.
I am a forever DM of 13 years who specializes in D&D 3.5. I love the Ravenloft setting, and my 3 favorite Domains of Dread, in no particular order, are Odiare, Souragne, and Bluetspur, although that is subject to change.
If I was a character in D&D, I would be a Bard/Marshal, and I have no problem playing a supporting role in any group. After all, the support role not only shores up everyone else's weaknesses, but also brings the party closer together.
I am currently attending college to get a degree in Mathematics Education, and I believe everyone can and should learn and become better than they were yesterday... Except for the Darklords of Ravenloft. They explicitly can't.

I have many names too. My parents named their daughter Daphna, but when that daughter turned out to also be their son (genderfluid, lol), I chose to add the name Shmuel as my second name, after both my grandfathers. My friends call me Dash for short, my AO3 pen name is PurpleAndTurqoise, and around here I'm known as The Arcane Weirdo (I used this once as my username for some character sheet builder, then when I started my Cafe de Nuit account I let my computer auto-fill it, not realising this would literally be the name other users know me by for all eternity. Looking back, I don't really regret.)
I'm relatively new to Ravenloft. I heard about the setting years ago from other fans, but was comfortable staying in the epic-fantasy areas of the game for a long while. Last year I was looking for a good mechanic for magically-induced-madness for a LoTR inspired campaign (long story, don't ask), and thought the horror setting would probably have one, so I scanned Mistipedia, read a digital copy of VRGtR, and didn't really find what I was looking for but fell in love with the setting itself. Ever since, I've become obssessed with everything misty and was probably the most active user on the site.
The awkward thing is that I have never really played or ran a ravenloft campaign. I mostly write fanfiction and worldbuilding ideas. Some day I hope to actually run one, but I don't feel ready yet.
I'm currently working with Speedwagon on a Bluestpur network. I saw you like this domain. Wanna join in?

Thanks for the speedy reply and the invite! I'd love to join, but just be aware that, due to the aforementioned pursuit of a teaching degree, I might not be able to respond consistently. I have 8 days left in my current term and desperately need to finish the class I'm in. I'll give you my best, though, I can promise you that.TheArcaneWeirdo wrote: Thu Jul 23, 2026 1:52 pmWelcome to the forum, Alex!BackseatGamer wrote: Thu Jul 23, 2026 11:03 am Greetings! I've unfortunately never run a successful horror campaign, but I'd like to keep trying until I get it right. I also love worldbuilding, reworking underpowered classes to make them more appealing to players, and converting the better-written D&D 5e modules to my preferred system, D&D 3.5. If you or anyone else would like my input on any of those topics, I'd be happy to help.
