A mini-netbook for Pride Month

Post by TheArcaneWeirdo »

We have less the two months until June, and I want do something special for our community. Something like giving folks queer representation in the setting other than Hazlik.
It obviously would be tricky to keep the content spooky without falling to demonization, but I'm ready for the challenge.

So here's what I had in mind:

Rainbows in the Mist

An anthology about queer folks in the demiplane of dread, with each story accompanied by an NPC stat block, an item or another piece of gameplay content.

Queer darklords are our first instinct, and they're welcome, of course, if they're interesting enough - but I thought this time we'd focus on more positive characters. The heroes, mentors, even the victims or reluctant monsters. Not cause a queer villain is necessarily bad represantation, but to show we can fit into a variety of roles.

I have a few story ideas:
1) Alanik Ray and Arthur Sedgwick's new investigation takes an unexpected turn, forcing them to finally admit their love for eachother. (I know it's a cliche. It's just such a fun one.)
2) A suspected Dukkar claims to actually have the soul of a girl, raising all kinds of moral questions...
3) No matter how dysphoric you feel, don't buy cursed binders from mysterious old women at the fair. Don't ask me how I know.
4) A vampire is preying on the sapphic youths of the Nova Vassan countryside. The monster hunter is running into difficulties, and the adults' homophobic attitude isn't helping.

But as I said we only have two months, and I can't do it alone.
So who else is in?

Update:
I've been reconsidering stuff. Rainbows in the Mist is still absolutely coming, but not as a published netbook yet.
You see, I'm behind on schedule, and so far only one person joined the project, and I need to study for my finals. I won't have an edited, formatted netbook to give you by the first week of June.
That said, I find that way too much of the Pride Month activities (at least where I live) take place during the first week, and not enough is left for us to actually feel the holiday spirit throughout the month.
So my idea is to release Rainbows in the Mist as a thread on the Fanfiction forum.
Throughout June, every few days, I'll release a piece of content - a fanfic, an NPC, an item, a monster... So you'll have something new to look at any time you enter the website, and I won't be too stressed about the deadline I set for myself.
This is also my way of recuiting the wisdom of the masses for playtesting and editing - this way I can get feedback on my content in real time - so when I will have time to it all tidy up, I'd already know what to fix.
And the best part, is that this way you can join in even if you hadn't talked to me ahead of time. You can always just post something on the thread.
So wait and see...

What a generic last post. Are you for real or AI?
