I remember the Reddit thread announcing this was followed up by a variation of the "why do you get two hot dogs" meme, but it was Lamordia and the "two hot dogs" was "extra multimedia attention".

Seriously, good for Lamordia that they're getting so much focus! Second to Barovia in 5e at this point--what with the Dungeons & Dragons Online expansion, Orphan of Agony Isle, and now this. However, I hope the marketing team remembers that other places exist too, for future advertising purposes at least.

Issue 1 sales blurb:

Ravenloft is falling apart, and nobody knows why.

Fortunately, monster hunter Ez D’Avenir is on the case! She’s searching the frozen wasteland of Lamordia for an undead creature that may hold the key to Ravenloft’s fate. But when Darklord Viktra Mordenheim catches wind of her quest, Ez is suddenly the one being hunted!

Join Bram Stoker Award-winning author Amy Chu and hit illustrator Ariela Kristantina for this genre-bending mystery that will unite Rudolph van Richten’s proteges from across the horrifying world of Ravenloft!

Issue 2 sales blurb:

An undead amnesiac appears amidst the misty moors of Mordent! The Weathermay-Foxgrove twins leap to the Reborn’s rescue, wielding sword and sorcery against the Domain’s horrifying inhabitants. Could the Reborn’s appearance help save Ravenloft from total collapse? The spirits of Mordent may have the answers . . .

Issue 3 and 4 tbr

Just a brief word of warning here, rumors are currently flowing that Dark Horse is potentially in a death spiral and may end up going belly up, so depending on the lenght of time it takes to publish all of the issues, it may be possible that not all may come out.

Did anyone ever see this in person? Did it come out in August or was it postponed/cancelled?

(Are we back, or will my posts be eaten again?! :elena: )

According to Amazon, it's supposed to come out yesterday, on the 16th.

I don't like the whole "Viktra" setup, so I might skip - but the author, Amy Chu, is known to generally deliver quality. I'm more interested in her take on "Carmilla" - the one that likely netted her this job - but if I eventually stumble over the inevitable collected edition of this one, then I'll be happy to buy. :)

I can confirm, 1st issue did come out. It sold out at all my local comic shops (so sad that there are so few remaining). I was able to snag it online, with all 4 variant covers.

Art is very pretty, but has a sort of unfinished look to it. I think that's an intentional style choice. Story is fine. Ez meets Viktra summarizes it so far. Nice to step out of Barovia, but weird that it's Lamordia again, right after the last comic. Seems someone at Wotc has locked onto Viktra as the #2 darklord to promote. In the old days, I think it would have been Azalin. Some nice RL-specific critters show up. I was suprised at the rated-R language. I'm too thick-skinned to be offended by some naughty words, but I think the 2 F-bombs here within a couple pages are more than we've seen in the entire line before this, so it's an odd tonal change. Looking forward to the next issue, with fingers crossed that the series completes before Dark Horse collapses.
