I'm surprised no one has quoted the book for you yet, so here I will:
A darklord cannot use any granted powers within a reality wrinkle--RCS p. 197.
That would assume they can enter reality wrinkles.

Hi all,
This thread got me thinking, in my campaign the players will soon encounter a being that is more of an angel then a demon, but as I understand it, it would also alter the reality of the world around them. Do I remember this correctly?
Would a darklord be able to approach an angel? What is the angel becomes corrupted. Does is stop being an angel, do its powers fade?
It's a rather sad story really, an angel got summoned to Ravenloft, could not leave, got corrupted in time and now tries some pretty horrible things to get out. Of course my players get intimately involved.

The Ravenloft DMG notes that celestials have reality wrinkles like demons, and can perform power rituals that reduce the wrinkles and give them land-based powers. (It also seems to hint that celestial reality wrinkles disrupt the land so much that effects possibly similar to the Carnival's Twisting may occur.)

In Carnival, there's a scene described where Hazlik cries like a baby infront of Isolde because he can't use his powers. I personally would rule that an Angel's reality wrinkle is more dangerous to a DL than a fiends because an Angel's is generated by goodness, rather than evil.Jennifer wrote:Hi all,

Actually, all a celestial accomplishes by performing a power ritual is to reduce the size of its reality wrinkle - celestials don't gain any land-based powers.Brandi wrote:The Ravenloft DMG notes that celestials have reality wrinkles like demons, and can perform power rituals that reduce the wrinkles and give them land-based powers.

And Drinnik-- I don't remember such a scene in the Carnival supplement. Could you give a page citation?

Hi all,
thanks for your replies.
This angel is by now thorouhly corrupted. I will detail the hows and whys in my journal (when I have time to update). But he hardly qualifies as good anymore. Would he still have a reality wrinkle? Would his goodness (such as it is) still affect the darklords?

That depends, if he's fallen and his alignment has changed to evil, I'd change his good subtype to evil and then he is now technically a fiend and retains his reality wrinkle but gains the ability to acquire land-based powers.Jennifer wrote:Hi all,

This is all described in the section I quoted above. I didn't quote it all, but it's all there in the RL3E/RLPHB.Sir T wrote:Hmm, I seem to remember reading in the RDMG that a Darllork inside a reality wrinkle looses his granted powers but he still cannot cross a land boundary, though the outsider can leave whenever it wishes.
A darklord can sense a reality wrinkle too, much like it can sense a Paladin.

Hey everybody, been a while. Just popping in for a few minutes.
Regarding Darklord vs. Fiend Reality wrinkles, I would theorize that while the DLs domain border is like a physical boundary, the fiend's reality wrinkle would be more like an energy zone. So a DL entering a fiends reality wrinkl would feel like he just walked into a field of static electricity, or uncomfortable heat, etc. No real ill effects other than not being able to call upon his lordly powers, and only being able to rely on his/her class/race skills.
For example, Strahd confronting Inajira would feel like he just walked into a sauna, and while he would be able to physically assault the fiend, or use any class powers such as spell casting (IMO, Hazlik probably couldn't defeat Isoldes Magic Resistance when he confronted her in Deepshadow's example. Or maybe just knew he was outclassed, he isn't stupid.), but Strahd would not be able to seal his borders, command the Choking Mists to rise, or open/close the gates of Castle Ravenloft until he left the fiend's reality wrinkle.
