(OOC: Reflex save 11, so -- ouch! Only 3 hp left, here ... >.<; And yet, amazingly enough, 27 on both Spellcraft checks. Honest!)
Lia throws back her head when the lightning touches her and screams with agony, her hands clawing at Kuzan as her body shakes and contorts. When the spell has run its course, Lia sags against the cleric, sobbing. "Down," she moans, "put me down ... somewhere. Need ... need to sit."

Reflex was a whopping 7, so I take the full brunt of the damage
Kuzan gritted his teeth as he smelled the ozone and felt his hairs stand on end. He'd felt this sensation before during intense electrical storms at sea. But he had never actually been struck by lightning before, and he was unprepared for the shock running through his system, causing joints to crackle and ears to pop. Breathing heavily, he floated up to the pinnacle of the roof, near the stairs, and sat Lia down.
"Hold still," he gasped, and intoned a mantra, placing his hands on Lia's shoulders. A cool, blue-white glow emanated from his hands for a moment, as the cleric channeled the positive energy into the girl.
Blowing a 2nd level spell for a cure moderate. Lia is healed 17 hp ( 1 + 7 on the dice, +5 for caster level, +4 for Augment Healing )

"Atta boy, it's allright..." Tomas murmured, grinning at the lick. "I guess the fall wasn't as bad as I thought..."
Lightning. Crackling. That strange pressure in his chest...
...Tomas looks around for a second before grabbing the first thing he can improvise as a weapon; a knife if he's lucky, or a heavy stick, or even an iron fireplace poker. Then, the man grabs hold of the rope, and starts to climb...

"This creature casts spells as a cleric would!" Lia shouts to everyone on the roof. "It can walk away on the air, right now -- do not allow it to get above you!"
She shrinks back next to Kuzan after having spoken and crouches low, muttering arcane words once more.
(OOC: True Strike spell. Get ready for fireworks -- I hope.)

OOC: Actually, Charles takes no damage. Thank you, evasion!
IC: Seeing the figure take aim at him with its weird black ankh and sensing the lightning gathering around it, Charles ducks instinctively, touching both blades to the roof; the lightning passes around him and is gone, leaving him unharmed. Behind the Anubite the Mourneswaith girl and the priest are wracked by the arcane energies; obviously they will have other concerns at present. With one hand Charles gestures the desert guide forward as he steps forward to engage the masked figure--this will go much better if they can engage him from both sides at once.
A knife between the shoulder blades will cramp the style of even the best wizard, he thinks with grim amusement. Coming forward as quickly as he dares, he feints with the dagger in his left hand and slashes with the dagger in his right.
Attack rolls. 21 to hit, if that does hit, 2 damage with a cold iron dagger.

[OOC: Will save = 15 + 8 - 2 = 21 ouch!]
Khalil flips over the eaves landing in a crouch. The dark form of the creature looms above him, just as he makes eye contact the lightning flashes....
Blue-black electricity strikes him, burning his skin and racing like fire through his veins. He grasps the roof with one hand, gritting his teeth through the agony, as the lightning dissapates.
Eyes blazing, Khalil draws a long curved blade from hsi belt, flowing script etched into the blade seems to shine silver in the moonlight. "Time to die betrayer!" He hisses as he advances low towards the creature, bring the scimitar up in a glittering arc towards the creatures abdomen and chest.
[OOC: attack: natural 20!
http://invisiblecastle.com/find.py?id=1438358 guess that hits then...... oops forgot the -2 and a +7 bonus as well... = 25 total
Damage: 1d6 =5 x 2 for the crit (scimitar gives a crit on 18-20) = 10 total(and its silvered too if that makes any difference?)

Upon hearing that crack of unnatural thunder, Andre took off up the stairs as fast as he possibly could, muttering about "Curses aren't supposed to hit till you actually REACH the tomb...can't they bloody get anything right?!" as he hustled his way up towards the roof
OOC:Full run and all that, yadda yadda yadda. Save some anubite for me!

A stick!, Tomas thinks, grabbing hold of a sizeable chunk of wood. Hey, beggers can't be choosers.
They can, however, foul up the simple act of climbing up a rope, as evidenced by Tomas grabbing hold of said rope, kicking his feet up against the wall, misjudging where he was kicking, hitting open air that used to be a window before that body there broke it, and falling off of the rope, landing on his back with an huff of violently expelled air and a dazed look at the combat above him.

On the Roof
[OOC: Khalil and Charles both hit, for a total of 12 damage. Andre has reached the roof and may now act.]
Even as Benoit and de Angelis move in to attack, the strange, jackal-masked figure is unfazed in its now tattered robes. Charles and Khalil both feel their blade bite against a strong hide or leather, and bloody water trickles down the entity's body to wash away in the rain.
Still, the creature has a few tricks up its sleeves. Quickly, carefully, the dark figure moves its twisted ankh in a few passes, and for a moment, nothing happens.
Then the shaking starts. It seems as though the building is being shaken down to its foundations, the roof bucking and jerking like some wild, living thing. Floating above it all, the jackal-masked figure watches with an amused air.
[OOC: All PCs except Tomas (who is out of range) and Kuzan (who is flying) are affected.
Concentration Check DC 15+Spell level required to cast spells.
Concentration Check DC 15 to use skills that provoke attacks of opportunity (including Heal) if used.
Reflex Save DC 21 or fall prone.
Ad Hoc Ruling Due to the slope and extreme slipperiness, any character who falls to the roof, except the ridgeline, either due to a failed balance check or due to the spell, promptly slips down the roof and over the edge, unless they succeed at a DC 15 Climb check to catch the edges of the eaves. Otherwise, it's 3d6 falling damage, with all the usual caveats regarding jump and tumble checks to reduce it. I'll roll damage for those who fall in the next round
Spellcraft check to identify.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the Stairs
[OOC: You guys need to use one more move-action (30 feet) to reach the platform and be on the roof, then you can act in the fight. You are also affected by the spell.]
Suddenly, as the three of you race up the stairs, it feels as though someone has decided to start a small earthquake. Something very odd is happening on the roof.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By the Body
[OOC: Tomas, you are *not* affected by the spell, you're out of range.]
You can see the roof begin to cavort in an unnatural fashion, buckling in places. Bits of plaster fall to the ground. The half-evacuated room, which had been calm, began to panic again.
Samael muttered something Tomas couldn't quite hear. "Gods, this brings back memories." The Borcan said out-loud as he grasped the rope. Quicker than you had expected, he was up the rope.
Marchand-Renier began to act to restore order, while Carter offered Tomas a hand. "Come on, I think we'll be needed."
[OOC: Aid Another by Carter to Tomas, +2 on the next Climb check.]

OOC: From the description, casting this spell is not a free action, which means Charles and Khalil get attacks of opportunity, correct? Assuming that that is correct, and that the Anubite gets its spell off anyway:NeoTiamat wrote: On the Roof

IC: As Khalil's blade strikes home and the Anubite begins its next spell, Charles sees an opening and strikes hard and fast at the cleric's unprotected flank--but too late. The earthquake that results from the masked creature's incantations strikes just as he makes his move; his momentum leaves him unable to react to the sudden pitching of the roof, and he falls prone, thrusting his his two daggers at the tiles in an attempt to prevent himself from sliding over the edge...
Save for the spell is 9--abject failure!
Since Charles has the knives out already I figured his attempt to catch himself was at least plausible. If you want attack rolls on the roof (!), here they are: 24 and 18, natural 20 for the left hand dagger! I guess part of the question is if he can beat the roof's hardness (to get the dagger to stick in), so damage rolls are 8 and 2 (doubling for the "critical" on the 20). If that's impermissible or fails, Climb check is 9 and over the side I go.

(OOC: Reflex save: 16. -_- Darnit. Climb check: 21 on a natural 20, so I ain't dead yet. Spellcraft check to identify: 31. Can you credit it? I'm going to let my next action depend on what I learn about the spell ...)
Lia falls and starts to slide away to empty space -- but manages to grab hold. Moaning and hissing at her precarious situation, she starts to drag herself back up onto the roof ...

Still under the effects of Lia's fly spell, Kuzan lifted himself off the shaking roof. He steadied instantly and focused on the floating Anubite. The mantra that came to his mind then was one he practiced many, many times. The prayer scroll appeared clearly in his mind, as if it were floating in front of him.
The winds picked up around the priest and the Anubite both, and an intense swirl in the rain surrounded the enemy.
Binding winds spell
DC 17 Reflex negates
If he fails his save, the Anubite suffers the following effects:
Cannot move from his position.
Must make a Concentration check (DC 17 + spell level) to cast spells.
No sonic or language-dependant spells may be cast into or out of the Anubite's square.
Ranged attacks made into or out of the Anubite's square suffer a -2 penalty.

"Priest!" Lia shrieks up to Kuzan. "The ankh! Knock away its ankh!"
Having spoken, Lia throws up one hand and snaps an arcane phrase. A ray of fiery energy shoots from Lia's hand --- directly at the Anubite's! Specifically, at the Anubite's hand that is holding its ankh.
(OOC: Concentration check: 25. Wheehaw!
Scorching Ray spell. Ranged touch attack for: BAB +4 + roll of 11 + insight bonus of 20 = 35, minus 4 to hit a specific target = 31. If successful, this deals 12 damage to the hand and hopefully makes the Anubite drop its unholy symbol. ^^; )
