My memory sucks and I don't want to screw anything up.

Understandable! I have been kind of quiet for the same reason. I don't remember a lot and I don't want to botch.

I think it'd be a good idea for everyone else to mention here if they've run out of known facts they remember so we know if our discussion's drawing to a close. Otherwise we might come to a stalemate.

Meet one of your new housemates, Rex Alistair Prescott, owner of Prescott Pharmacy down in the Merchant Quarter.



He's moving in next door to Lia once chapter 4 starts. He's also a rogue so we finally have a party member with Thievery.

In an effort to expedite our pow-wow, I've gone over and compiled a rough outline of facts I could glean from Chapter 1. After 38 pages of posts my eyes are seriously glazed over. I'm sure I missed some important details, especially from scenes Cyrus wasn't in. If you see I've missed something important, let me know and I'll edit it in.

Also this is all strictly things I could find in the chapter proper. If you have a relevant clue to add, tell me.

Interestingly, I've discovered a couple clues I've missed before and made a few connections I hadn't noticed before.

Shattered City Outline

Chapter 1

- The Three Sacred Symbols of Dementlieu were stolen from the Guignol
--- The Sword was found at Mme. Chastel's corpse. It had rusted to ruin
--- The Charter was found in the catacombs. It seemed still intact.
--- The Mirror Brilliant -- ?
--- Leon's Signet Ring --?

Guignol Museum
- Cyrus discovered a Hazlani acid was used on the glass. The acid is rarely found outside Hazlan, but attempts to investigate the local Hazlani apothecary hit a dead-end.
- Prof. Marchand-Renier suggested Vedarrak could be an influencing force behind the theft.

Talks and Investigations
- Consensus was that M. Pelay was not behind the heist
- Kerrian learned that Pelay and Chastel had a major argument. Pelay called Chastel a "lazy turtle."
- Canderli, the Hazlani apotheceary, said that her gal-zuur had been stolen by someone in an ugly yellow opera cloak.
- Montmort apparently knew about the woman in the yellow cloak and the theft. He was seen asking about her.
- The yellow-cloak's trail led into Quartier Ouvrier. First meeting of Reine.
Mysterious girl who claims to speak with Ezra.
--- Yellow-cloak's apartment was empty. Found inside were a broken mirror, a fake human skull, a notebook, and a crate with the initials CTC stamped on the side.
--- Name of Perrine used to identify Yellow-cloak.

- Hugo Delarue claims the Mirror Brilliant is his by virtue of heritage and is angry the University will not give it to him. Agale does not believe Delarue would've engineered the theft, though.

Vedarrak
- Was talking with Duchess Marie-Claudine von Auerbach
University deals heavily in bound elementals. Radiant Tower in Falkovnia's been looking into this.
- Vedarrak *seemed* unaware of the thefts until it was brought up to him.

Chapel Eglise
- Kerrian had a vision that knocked him out. http://www.fraternityofshadows.com/foru ... 731#123731
--- Five blackbirds cut in half by a sword with a hilt that looked like the sun. Vision generally pointed to dead twins found shortly after.
- Party headed down into the catacombs. They had been flooded recently.
Five sets of twins found drowned in a tomb. The Charter was found on one man.
- Note also found: "At what point does a trail become a trap? -C"
- Charter returned to the gendarmes at the Palace of Justice

Tessier Gallery
- Met Bertram, Bertriz, and Christophe Renier
- Chastel was found dead, run through by the Sword of Leon.
--- Creepy dolls found all over her office. "Death is dead. She's dead. Killed her." Perhaps Chastel was "Death?"
- City went crazy that night (March 11th). Tomas, Cyrus, Katja witness the troubles outside. Even gendarmes went hysterical.
- Tessier Gallery gets lit on fire. Someone shoots at Agale.
Chastel, her dolls, and the Sword all vanished sometime during the confusion.
- Something protected certain people from the Crazy. Ideas are that they were in certain locations at that moment, or that they were weraing masks.

In chapter 2 Cedolin informed us that those not affected were 1) those at the Gallery, 2) those at the Great Cathedral. I think the evidence for "location" being the key is pretty strong. It's interesting that much of Poincare's crew was at or near the Cathedral, working on the Icon...perhaps it was spared deliberately, and it's not just because it's hallowed ground that those there weren't affected.

Wasn't the Mirror Brilliant in the hold of the Acheron? Or was that another, less specific one of the Levi Mirrors?

I haven't gotten to chapter 2 yet But yeah, I think it was.

I'm giving Kage 5 RT for his powerpoint presentation of Book One, which will be logged in the big list when Neo gets back since I myself cannot edit it.

If he or anyone else continues with the other two books, they will receive similar recompense.

Here's Chapter 2. Again if I missed anything important, let me know. There's a LOT to go over.

I couldn't find anything about the Mirror Brilliant but if someone can link me to the post(s) where we rescued it, I'd appreciate. I don't want to add anything without seeing it in the thread.

- Jacob de Casteele was arrested.
- Cedolin confirmed that the people spared the madness were either in the Tessier Gallery or the Cathedral.
- Priests are disappearing from the Cathedral.
--- All of them disappeared from Ste. Mares de Larmes at night sometime between dinner and bed.
--- University implicated as only group with enough resources and people to pull off such a major magical disaster as the insanity.
- Cedolin was attacked, throat cut by some kind of magic.
- The Icon was desecrated.
--- Nicole Poincare was involved with the reconstruction
--- Cyrus noted that the Bastion was into poisoning people
- Party splits up to investigate.
--- Twins and Nerit discover love letters, also discover dead Warden hanging in the mirror.
--- Kerrian determined something is affecting the city's soul.
--- Warden Lecanu was good at restoring and copying most old things, not just books. He also checked out a LOT of material from the library at once.
Lecanu also had a pronounced interest in the Guignol
- Cedolin arrives and announces that the University has barred all state officials (including gendarmes) from University property.
- Another "yellow" person found at the bookstore, this time a yellow-haired man. Etienne Latour
--- Latour was killed, presumably by the same magic that attacked Cedolin earlier.
- In the Museum, someone had altered a Kartakan lute to resemble an Ezran symbol.
--- Signs point to Lecanu, who was a restorationist
--- Found Chastel's log-book that lists births and deaths of many, many people. The last one lists Atropos as dead on March 11, 770.
----- Cyrus noted that the handwriting in the log was not Chastel's. Contradicts with the dolls that said "death is dead?"
----- Book goes back to the earliest days of Dementlieu

Montmort arrives at the Chateau
- Reports that Cedolin has gone missing.
- University and holdings are no longer protected under government law.
Group sent to investigate the Archeron.

- Ship Lacour served on
- Bound for Hazlan?
- Lots of artifacts from various countries stashed in the hold, including many Menetnashte treasures.
- Attacked by magic mirrors, Evil Cedolin, and angry torches.

- Evil Cedolin is delivered to Montmort.

Off to 47 Rue Foyle
- Strange mirror chick attacks Richard, totally owns his arm.
- Anne-Marie discovered. Lia makes her all wet. We arrest her and take her to Montmort where she later dies of plague.
- We were too late. But we ran to the ritual site anyway.

Battle at the Lake
- Fought off Dr. Poincare, a Water Weird, and several cultists.
- Crate left behind that contains the original Icon.
- Dr. Poincare discredited, sent into hiding.

Chapter 3

Plague comes to Dementlieu. Origins unknown
- Party decides to traipse off to the countryside to investigate.
- Mme. Loiseau is very annoying
- Thierri's brother injured
- Some kind of blight killing crops in countryside
- The Reniers were already there when we arrived.
- Thierri discovered to be a competent mage despite being jerk! He made a magic circle vs. undead.
- Talk of a "creature" that was causing problems in the village of Troischamps.
- Katja has magical undead hound-sensing powers.
- Party heads to stream on the Boucher homestead.
- Attacked by grave weirds and Anne-Marie
--- Anne-Marie makes Lia wet. Lia does not contract plague. However, Darius, Tomas, Nicolas, and Kerrian do. Believed linked to them being outside protected areas. Also they were breathed on by Big Nasties.
- Kerrian determined the plague was in the water.
- Met the ghost of the girl who was killed -- Rachel, Philippe's girlfriend
Battle over, everyone goes back to the Boucher home to spend the night. -- Christophe makes a halfway-decent breakfast.
- Grave Hounds have tremorsense.
--- Hounds not sole source of plague?
- Anne-Marie warns against Montmort and against the "men with snakes on their fingers."
--- Lia later reveals the snakes to be the FoS

Meeting with the Man
- Christophe has a friend in the forest who everyone OOCly knows as Guy Benoit.
- We meet him. He says he'll help us deal with the doggies. Gives us key to the Leon Cemetary

Leon Cemetary
- The cemetary is bad.
- Reine is there! By childrens' graves. She brings up the "you are somebody" bit again
--- Reine mentions Mister Raven, snow white angel that flies on raven's wings. Sounds vaguely like Montmort?
- Cyrus finds lots of people traveling in and out of the Navarre crypt.
- Inside there's a pool of Evil Reflective Sparkly Liquid that made us go crazy and try to attack each other. We ran off from it and headed to a deeper crypt where Poincare and Anne-Marie awaited.
- Poincare references something was taken from Dementlieu on the 11th and she's trying to replace it.
- Aftermath: Poincare dead, Anne-Marie gone.
- Thierri was magically compelled to fall into the pool and die.

I'll leave the interlude open for a while in case anyone has more recapping they'd like to do.
