Mercator would probably spend a fair amount of thought and effort trying to find something legal for her to do with her skills, so as to keep her from returning to a Life of Crime. Unfortunately, I am not really Mercator, I just play him on TV, so I don't have any ideas on what that might be or how he would go about implementing any such plan.

Nicolas is likely to want to do anything to keep her out of Dior's clutches, but whether that extends further than a barmaid's job at his favourite local , or the lead in the "next" great play he is "about" to write is up for debate...

The spirit is willing but the flesh is weak? Or in less mataphorical language, a few PCs have good intentions but no has the desire/thought processes to figure out what to do with Perrine?

Well, I am in a good mood since I just was at a birthday feast, so I'll give things a bit of a shove.

--First off, Perrine is largely uneducated, but she's a quick learner and thinks fast on her feet. She also has rather good manual dexterity. Obviously this makes her a rather good thief (a very good one, actually). At the same time, Perrine doesn't have any particular emotional attachment to the art of theft. She does it because it keeps food in her stomach.

--If left to her own devices, Perrine's goal is going to be to get as far away from Port-a-Lucine as possible. How exactly this happens depends on how much money Perrine has at the moment. Best case scenario, she buys a ticket for the train and is in Pont-a-Museau or Neufurchtenburg within twenty-four hours. Failing that, she'll steal to get the money, or just walk. But Perrine would try to get out of Port-a-Lucine.

--The threat is, on the whole, not Dior but M. Amities. Dior sold her legitimately, he's not going to bother with her again unless he runs into her direct. Amities, on the other hand, arranged for her to be sold in the first place as a way of getting rid of her. It's entirely possible that sale done, Amities no longer cares about Perrine and will leave her alone. Or he might be unable to track her or harm her once she departs. You will have to judge just how great a threat Amities is based on your own knowledge of the person.


--Lastly, remember that the players are not without resources of their own. This is where various things that normally lurk in the backstory are actually relevant. There aren't any powers or rituals that would help with this problem, no. On the other hand, I will note that you people have 'ins' with the Renier clan of Richemulot, you have some minor connections with the Ezran church, you have your own various businesses or situations. Commisioner Gauvain does owe you a small favor after the last Book... In short, try and be a bit creative.

Celeste knows an awful lot of well-positioned people *in* the country, but probably not as many out of it...and I'm not really certain that would cover "people who would want to help out this adorable street urchin I found". That is to say, there's nothing explicit in the background info I've got for her that would be a foolproof solution to the problem--unless Neo and Isy have a way of adjudicating whether Celeste knows someone helpful that I haven't specified yet.

Lia could, potentially, arrange something. Her family does own a winery/bewery in Mordent, so if Perrine could make herself useful there, all Lia would need to do is write her a letter of introduction and a train ticket.

A small P.S. à propos Lia's threatening to break Marchand-Renier's fingers. That was actually inspired by a direct care for his well-being. He is -- or was, back in the Expedition -- lethally allergic to wine, after all.
