Which domain would you want to live in?

Post by Fido »

What if you would be forced to go live in the Dread Realms? You do get a little bit of a choice, though. You can pick the domain and city/bit of land where you will settle down.

Remember, this is about YOU moving to the Dread Realms, not some fancy level 20 character.
Just the level 1 commoner you are. ;)

So which domain is the safest?

Seems like a tough choice to me. I considered Dementlieu, but I don't like the thought of getting dominated. Same goes for Darkon.
I think I would go for Mordentshire. Seems like the least dangerous to me... I'd try to set up a shop there or something... :)

I bet nobody's picking Falkovnia...

Cool topic!

I would live in Borca, of course. He-he.

No, seriously, if I had to chose, I think it would be Lamordia. That seems to be the "safest" domain. You get the best health care, too.

Somewhere in the Northwest Core, probably Dementlieu. I'd like to live in a society with a higher cultural level.

Not if your local doctor is running low on some raw materials, heh heh heh.

I'd definitly choose Mordent. Nice picturesque place, few predators, enlightened people, high standard of living and best of all - home of the Weathermay twins. Its always good to live close by monster hunters, just in case....

Nova Vassa. Its as suburbian as the core domains get. And the whole cat motif is very aluring to me.

Hard choice to make... One of the first domain that came to mind was Vaasa. It's vast enough to keep clear of the Darklord, no constant supernatural threats like in Barovia or Darkon.

A second choice would be Kartakass cause if you don't count in the Wolfweres, it sounds like a nice domain to stay in, especially with all the music. I'd keep fully loaded pistols with cold iron bullets just in case ;)

BTW: I'm a third level Expert with lots of knowledge skills 8)

Where to live in the Dread Realms? Not a happy choice by any means. Whatever the place you pick, it has its share of dark corners. I guess Mordent is the safest and quietest place to settle down, preferably somewhere controlled by the Lamplighters. Definitely not Nova Vaasa, as its the close second candidate after Falkovnia for worst urban hell.

A possible second choice would be Graben or its surrounding isles. Not exactly the easiest clime, but the life is quiet and the darklord just wants to be left alone.

You know, if it wasn't for the food problem, I'd likely say Paridon, just because I like the whole "foggy streets of London" mysteque. Really, I might be okay with starting out in Mordent, but as rural as that place is, odds are I'd hit the road as soon as I found some halfway compotent people to go with me.
I think we're property...

Whoa, what? :D After I played Feast of Goblyns, I thought to myself...I'd never want to live there! Our DM scared the crap out of us with that inn. And the Crystal Club? My PC was enticed into one of the "back rooms." Wow. Scared. Very scared. I like how Kartakass was created as a domain with numerous "hidden dangers."

I mean, sure, everywhere in Ravenloft would suck. I guess you just have to pick your poison.

I'd stay in a small village far from the two main towns. Don't worry, there's no way I'm going anywhere near those two places

I think I would be happy about anywher in the core other than the Shadow rift and Falkovnia. There are a couple of the islands I wouldn't mind much either.

But if I had to chose just one I think I would go with Mordent somewhere on the coast.
Vote Cthulhu! At least then we know we are going to get screwed.

Staunton Bluffs, man.

Staunton Bluffs is a REALLY good location, actually... Mordent is sort of safe. Darkon really depends on where you live within Darkon, but, I don;t know, Darkon scares me.

I think I'm a sucker for Dementlieu. Go ahead, control my mind. (Not like it's not happening now anyways  ). I am a sucker for culture and arts so I would have to go where the sidewalk cafes are...

(If you're strong enough, and willing to commit heinous crimes, actually, Falkovnia may not be so bad! lol! It beats the hell out of G'henna, that's for sure!!! At least if you GET your hands on food in Falkovnia, you're generally aloowed to eat it!)

I think Dementlieu. The culture, and renaissance flair is excellent. Perhaps not in Port-a-Lucine where all the political intrigue takes place, but rather somewhere south, perhaps near the Mordentish border, some quiet, rural area free of the domination of minds taking place in the captial or even Chateaufaux.

Although you could make a mint implementing modern technology into renaissance-level society. Lamordia would also be good. Ludendorf is a safe town, walled, and sophisticated to boot. The biggest problem is the godlessness, but that's a personal reason. On the whole, I think it's safest.
